Aluko Long Harper (that save at 2-1 was incredibly important, worth a place on my top 3) Boyd is probably unlucky to miss out.
Aluko Harper Long Elmo's dive at the start was embarrassing, he needs to cut that **** out. Huddlestone looked like his head was elsewhere today.
Aluko Long Livermore Kind of says it all when Aluko is my man of the match, thought Long was a good outlet but spent most of the time putting crosses in when he should have been the one in the box. Livermore was a real worker today, ran for the entire game again, really impressed with him as the season's gone on.
I know people are selecting Harper for his great save at 2-1 but 90% of his kicks under pressure were absolutely terrible, most of them went straight out.
Long - always dangerous. could have had 3 goals if Aluko had picked him out when wide open at the end and Mason hadn't missed a clear foul. Jelavic - worked hard but had only scraps to feed on..nice goal Boyd....most creative player in attack and covered back well
Jelavic - goal Harper - save Long - goal And that's about it. We were poor today, against a poor side. Credit for the comeback an all, but against a tiring side, with 10 men and a crock, we looked second best until the fortuitous goal. Lucky point but I'd have taken it before kick off, at half time and bloody obviously at two nil down. One more thing. Harper has been piss poor the last few games and I am a big fan of his. His distribution has been shocking, his positioning poor and his shot blocking none existent. That save today however has just about guaranteed us Premier League football next season. It's a funny old game.
Could not agree more about Harpers kicking and distribution. There were so many times that he needed to pick the ball up takes steps out to the edge of the area and either kick it or throw it, instead he chose to kick it under pressure with the ball either going out of play or going to Fulham. On one occasion after doing this the camera panned to SB who you could see was a picture of frustration. How long do you have to be a goalkeeper to learn this skill?? Surely Harper should have learned it by now. On a side note but a connected one, I have never understood why Citys keepers don't throw the ball out ball more as opposed to booting it down field to the opposition. Like to watch Papa Reina when he played for Liverpool, he had that down to a tee. Both Harper and McGregor could learn from him. In saying that he did save the game for us with a great stop.
