Of the games I have attended, Fulham home & away, hull city home. Of the games I missed it would have to be Liverpool and united away Arsenal home deserves a mention too, What a game of football!
Same here in no particular order. Plus I have 90 minute copies of the games so I can go back and watch the skill and competitive edge we have when we are right on our game. Sadly, I have no copy of the Fulham game over and above the extended highlights on the OS, but that one also figures. One blemish from the Hull game was Victor's moment of over casual play, but Steve Bruce's generous praise more made up for that.
It has to be the Arsenal game- I just felt privileged to have been there and came away buzzing. What a game!!! Very glad that I was at the Hull game to witness Adam's wonder-goal. Didn't realise just how special.it was until seeing the MOTD highlights (I'm in the Chapel). But it has to be the Arsenal game for me.
Can't argue with the suggestions. Enjoyed the Arsenal match. I thought the Liverpool home game was a great match for the 1st half at least. Shame we didn't get that equaliser or it would have been more memorable for the right reasons. The Burnley game was entertaining too
I love these threads but this seems a little premature. If we beat Man U last game of the season infront of a sell out crowd (got my ticket!), that will automatically go down as my favourite game because I ****ing hate Man U. Of the ones I've been to already this season it's probably between Hull City, Man City and Newcastle United. All three had a spectacular Saints goal, as well as decent weather. I'll have to pick Hull City as my favorite because I was standing in the Northam to the GK's right, so was in a perfect position to see Lallana's wonder goal.
I really enjoyed the way we played against Fulham & Newcastle, but the pair of them were SO bad, it almost felt cruel. When we played Man City at home, with the injury list (No Boruc, Clyne, Wanyama or schneiderlin & Lambert on the bench) I was sure, for the first time in seasons, that we were looking at damage limitation, but the players that came in really stepped up to the plate. It was also the best and noisiest crowd I have seen at St Mary's in the Premiership. So, even though we didn't win, that match is my pick.
My favourite match was away v Sunderland in the 5th round of the FA Cup. My most frustrating match? Same one.
The game that gave me the most pleasure and the broadest grin as I left the Ground was Newcastle home, it's the sort of game I can really relate to in my daydreams, just wish it could happen more often.
Liverpool away is undoubtedly our best result but I'm not sure it was the best match. Home to Newcastle, home and away to Fulham were great but I think the draw at home to Arsenal was the best match. When we went 2-1 down after playing so well I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought we were staring defeat right in the face.
I actually disagree, particularly with Villa. I found that game quite enjoyable. But the reason why I primarily disagree is because the frustrating matches for me are the ones like West Ham and Cardiff at home, and Sunderland home and away. Matches where the opposition pretty much stuck 11 men behind the ball, and we were largely encapable of breaking them down - mainly because we didn't have the tools to do so. It's not like any of those sides are Chelsea. But as the question in hand is favourite, I will sit on the fence with Hull, Fulham and Newcastle at home. At this level, you don't get too much closer to perfection than those performances. Lallana's goal vs Hull is my primary highlight of those matches, and indeed the season.
When J-Rod hit the side netting for the fourth time I thought the game had 0 - 1 written all over it.
Fulham away for me, by a long distance. A weekend without the kids, lunch with the wife at the River Café beforehand, Boruc's three saves in the first half and then goals from the England boys in the second. Adam celebrated his goal right on front of my face. Priceless. Perfect weekend.
This was the best game for me too because it was nice to see saints play that second half with so much speed and excitement!!!
