Good Morning from a wet and overcast Southampton,

Here is the conclusive proof that without McCormack we would have been relegated

We'd be rock bottom, and by a big margin.

Collectively the team has not played well, BUT who are the players that have disappointed the most.

I suppose Byram has to be on that list, only because of the season he had last year!

For me Austin has probably disappointed me the most. I know he wears his heart on his sleeve, gives 100% and goes on these surging runs, but he always loses the ball, and gives away needless free kicks.

    Agree or not?

McDermott has spoken to the YEP about our form this year:-

“It’s been an incredible season if you think about everything that’s gone on,”

“Look at where we were up to the Blackpool game away (on Boxing Day). “We drew 1-1 there and I thought ‘yeah, we’ll definitely get into the top six with this group.’

“But then we went to Nottingham Forest, got beat late on and went on a bad run of games.

“For whatever reason, our form dipped alarmingly to the point where you’re starting to look the other way.

“I can only say that now because we’ve got enough points to be safe.

“It was an alarming dip. “To be absolutely honest, I’ve never seen anything like it – from where we were to where we are now.

“But you have to learn from that and you have to take positives from the season.”

Who can find some positives for the season, dare ya???

There's an interesting article in the Mail this morning regarding the true cost of relegation. Thoughts?

Morning Elland and all. Think we'd all long figured that without Ross, we'd be gone. Won't stop some slating him next season if he moves to the pl though. Usual rubbish about no loyalty and all that. What's amazing for me is to read that from our manager, a man who sees the squad every day, picks teams, tactics etc and admits he has no idea what caused the slump. Won't be a good selling point on his cv I'm afraid. Any more bans planned for today or over the weekend?

Morning all. If we hadn't had Ros, maybe we'd have been in more trouble. But then again, maybe someone else might have stepped up to the plate. We'll never know.

For next season, I just hope that Cellino supports BMD and allows him to bring in a bit more quality. A complete overhaul will just destabilse the squad. But two or three, maybe 4 but certainly no more, quality players will go a long way to building a squad for the long haul. We know a number of players will be moving on and we've done to death who each of us thinks/wants to stay/move on. I just hope that we get a bit more qulity and that if Ross is sold, we get at least £8m for him because it will take a fair wedge of cash to replace him.

In BMD/Cellino, I trust.... just about. MOT to 14/15!!!

Morning all - Murphy as he came in with a big price tag and I expected more from him followed by Byram not redoing what he did last year.

Ross exceeded expectations, Pearce has been decent and I can't say the rest disappointed as coming into the season I knew they were poor as they were the season prior too.

    Morning all <ok>

Those Ross stats are hideously misleading as someone else would have scored at least some of the goals, yes, but I'm not going to deny we'd be in a much much worse state without his contribution this season.

I'd agree that Byram has been disappointing this season along with Austin and we had high hopes for Kebe when it was rumoured he was joining.

To put a more positive spin on it I've been pleasantly surprised by Pearce and Smith and Tonge has done better than I expected later on this season. That's not to even start to suggest that he should be retained though!

Morning Durham, understand what you are saying about McCormack.

I wonder how many of us would have scored any of those goals had we been in that position at that time?

Morning all ... Ross is 27 already, and his genius season has certainly taken a long time to happen ... I would keep him because this is his level, but £6m plus on the table should be taken ... Byram's injury ruined his season, he is still a baby so not too concerned ... Austin biggest disappointment for me, has shown he is Lge One at best and doesn't have the stamina for a full season nor the temperament to thrive under pressure ... Pearce has displayed that one quality demanded from Leeds players, hard work and never say die, think he will just get better for us ... Smith and Murphy will both do well for us and I expect them to improve next season with more quality around them ... McD, as much as I love and support him I think is done, and he won't push us on at this rate ... I will be surprised if Cellino keeps him but if he does I reckon McD will be given two months at most to deliver a winning team

On the relegation money table ... think of this, Bolton posted a loss of £162m a few months ago and are in desperate trouble now, their squad is going to be "trimmed" and they have little chance of returning to the Prem anytime soon ... QPR will effectively bankrupt themselves if they don't go up, Wigan can probably hang on for one more season outside the Prem before their squad is decimated

I'd have banged them all in, along with the penalties and sitters he's missed and we'd currently be top 6........ Obviously!

BMcD is a massive disappointment for me, especially after admitting he don't have a clue why we had the slump. He won't admit he got it wrong with team selections, players coming in or tactics. he hasn't had one game since he arrived where us fans could appluad a great team performance of passing football. He outWarnocks Warnock I'm afraid and I really thought he was the one we needed, now I can't wait to see him slink off.

Doc I think his point is, and he's said it repeatedly, he's never experienced a group of players like this who decide when they will turn up ... tactics and ability count for nothing when your players just don't try ... our problem has been too many players on their last legs whose contracts won't be renewed, so we really don't have a squad that can be rotated effectively ... yes, some of McDs tactics have been incorrect but I feel he's been forced to do things he didn't want to and based tactics on attitude rather than, well, tactics ... no matter he won't be our manager much longer

Billy, Fernandez has said another year in the championship won't hurt them, although obviously they would prefer to go up this season. Bolton will be hurting now because another season wasted and going into a 3rd year of parachute payments, however they have renamed the Reebok as it will be named after our kit supplier. Another reason why we need to buy back ER/TA so we can get cash for renaming them. Wolves took the worst dip of Bolton, Blackburn etc, but are now back on the up and you can expect them to be a big threat next season

We will have our work cut out, even with cash to get the fook out of this league and don't forget the 3 prem sides who will drop this year all having better squads and cash

You do write some rubbish elland. I know you only do it to start a debate though.

If you took the top scorer stats out of any side in the bottom half of the table they would be bottom. Your theory neglects the fact that if Ross wasn't playing someone else would be playing and they would be scoring at least some goals and the team would be set up completely differently and the spead of goals around the squad would be different. If someone is bored this afternoon perhaps they could see how other teams would have faired without their top goal scorers goals.

The argument is too simplistic. Now that the least intelligent poster is AWOL perhaps you don't need to appeal to the lowest common denominator? ;-)
