BARDSLEY WON'T RULE OUT SUNDERLAND STAY Submitted by tribalfootball.com on Thu, 04/24/2014 - 11:58 Phil Bardsley is open to staying with Sunderland. The fullback remains in discussions with the Black Cats hierarchy about a new deal. Sources close to the defender insist that he has never told Sunderland that he will not return to Wearside next season, says The Journal.
i'd keep him but look to improve on the RB position pushing him down the order on less dosh (much less like £25k pw less) leaving him on £10k tops or its off you trott
1 year contract at ten grand a week or tara for me, I'd rather there wasn't an extra player to replace in what's a massive rebuild, but he's not worth pushing the boat out.
that sounds about right to me. seems like he`s trying to hold us to ransome and I don`t like that at all.
Oh agreed, I've made no secret of my feelings for Bardo, I think he's a fraud, Knuckles down in contract seasons and ****e the rest of the time. I would be happy to never see him again. But the rebuild overwhelms me so like I said, I'd bare with it for a low wage, think he'll want more than 10kpw though, we better not give it to him.
Oh yer.....looks like a truce was called two weeks ago but he's definitely near the top of one tribe that went to war.
Sounds pretty clear to me, understandably he wants premier league football. If we go down he'll leave and if we stay up he might stay
I would still keep him. There are better RBs out there but if we are planning a major overhaul in the summer I don't want to see too many faces go at once. The squad falls apart when too many come in and leave and there isn't a sense of unity, just a bunch of players unfamiliar with each other.
Bards was always a funny one! Decent player but IMO only showed what he could do when a contract was needed which a lot of players seem to do. As far as all this will he won't he? tbh I couldn't care either way but only on the right terms but I'm sure he'll get offered better elsewhere and fair play to him if he does.
I don't think Bardsley is messing us about at all, the club probably wouldn't want somebody with such high wages tied to the club if we went down, wise for both parties to wait and see what happens.
I like him, but he's a limited footballer. Salary needs to be cut whether we stay up or not, or tara from me.
