Boss hoping for packed house Published: 23 April, 2014 by Stuart Vose Poyet's message ahead of Sunday's game. Gus Poyet has urged Sunderland fans to pack out the Stadium of Light when Cardiff City visit Wearside this weekend. The Bluebirds travel to the SoL for a huge clash this Sunday (April 27), kick-off 12 noon. Poyet's side notched a sensational win at Chelsea in their last outing to close the gap on the teams above them having also gained a midweek point at Manchester City. âI want Sundayâs game to feel like the last day of the season because itâs the game that we need to win,â the head coach said. âI want the ground to be full, sold out. We all know how important it is.â Standard tickets for Sundayâs game are on sale now, priced at £25 for adults, £19 for over 65s and just £10 for under 16s. Hospitality for the game is available from just £50 per person.
Season card holders can get 2 extra tickets at £10 each for this one. I fear the Sky effect will suppress numbers though. Might get 40,000 but don't think it will be a full house by any stretch. Just means those of us who are there need to get right behind them from the first minute to the final whistle.
Double edged sword isnt it ,clubs gladly take the money ,i wonder where football would be if it hadnt had sold its soul to the highest bidder
I do believe if we have a full house OR we are on sky then the team is **** performance wise However if a full house and sky we tend to do well (Nufc/City etc)
Season card holders can get 2 extra tickets at £10 each for the West Brom game pal. you got the wrong game Hopefully we get a big crowd but I doubt it. the ****s will be in the pubs tho.
You can't support the lad s from the pub or your living room, so anyone with Sunderland at heart should get their arses down to the stadium..
Would have been up for this but I start work tomorrow at 11am, will get 5 hour sleep tomorrow night then am in again until 4am Sun Morning. It would not be safe to drive the 200 miles 7am to get there in time. If it had been a 4pm KO I would have been there.
@Baz - I realised as I was driving back from work tonight and hoped to edit before it was picked up Good spot. Agree there will be many in pub which is a shame but it's a free society after all.
8) Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley - Sunderland The Elvis version of the great drunk uncle karaoke classic (definitely not the butchered UB40 take) is a favourite of several clubs, notably Swansea, but Sunderland are probably the most closely associated with it, if only because in 'Wise Men Say' they have a fans' podcast (nearly) named after it. This is another song that probably shouldn't work as a terrace chant, but when it's done properly it fits perfectly with the notion of an overly-emotional and perhaps even overly-sauced collection of men tipping their heads back and letting rip. Somehow the terrace version is leant something by it usually being sung in slightly the wrong key, given that your average football fan doesn't quite have the vocal range of Elvis Presley. http://www.football365.com/topical-top-10/9269426/F365-s-Top-Ten-Terrace-Pop-Anthems
Currently in Paris but driving back today and up from Nottingham on Satda afternoon, sorry Frings. Haway Lads, no mistake and we have a great chance to stay up!!!!!!!
Vocal range of Elvis is right like - I can certainly get much higher than he could - but can I hell get as low!! 2 and a half octaves for me low to high - and the high end is Darkness high!! I love singing that song - it has, on occasion, made my hair on the back of my neck stand up! When we sing it, it sounds awesome. Raise the roof on Sunday lads and lasses. COME ONNNNNN
