18 year old Luke Shaw,Southampton's left back,is apparently Man.Utd. bound for a fee of £30,000,000.00,and wages of £100,000.00 per week.

    So the insanity continues unabated.

How on earth can "normal" Clubs' hope to compete with such extravagance,or to be able to keep their playing staff satisfied, when an 18 year old will be so highly remunerated.

I guess the only hope is that there are only so many of these places available and the excess of good players will have to look outside the "big" clubs. As long as the "normal" clubs don't try and compete on wages and transfer fees then some level of sanity will hopefully be kept for "the rest of us".

We cant and never will but we have proved like some other clubs that you can still be successful and don't have to go and throw huge amounts of money for players to do well.

Zaha, I believe went for £15,000,000 ,is another example of having more money than sense .Little wonder Utd got rid of Moyes ,with the amount of players they need to replace this summer could they trust him to spend wisely ?

Him and Zaha are both overrated as they are English players and good English players are hard to come by and they are 'hot property' meaning you will probably sell the most shirts and tickets as people like them, plus they aren't too bad on the pitch, despite this there are many better players elsewhere but they sitck with these ones as they're English

United looked stale and aged when fergie decided to retire. Moyes has done very well in getting the team in the top half but that is not good enough for the owners and moyes had to go. Its going to cost them millions as moyes was on a 6 year contract and that is without the new manager who will cost the same. Its going to take a few seasons for united to get back to where they were and whoever they employ wont do any better than moyes have done with a stale tired team.

You've completely changed my opinion of Moyes there Dai. <laugh> I was under the impression he had done a poor job, but it seems he is a genius after all. <applause>

I understand Moyes will receive maximum compensation payment of £5,000,000.00,as per his contract. Still, not bad for 10 months work.
I'm bored ****less with Man Utd.,and would love to see them slide into the lower Divisions. They are hopelessly in debt.

How did moyes do well in getting them into the top half when Ferguson won the title with virtually the same squad? <laugh>

It's ridiculous how the bigger clubs can run on so much debt. Stupid money that's killing the game.

You're probably right , I just used Zaha as an example of how too much too soon can ruin a player .IMO he's another one who's had too much pressure and money thrown at him before he's ready .

England as a nation don't generate enough world class players. How many English players play abroad these days? It might be that "they want to stay close to home" but the truth is that no top foreign team rates them as highly as we do.

The same thing will happen at the World Cup. England fans get hyped because they beat Costa Rica 3-0 and then they come crashing back down to Earth when they play a team with some decent players.

From the little i have seen of him he is no better than our Ben, who is still only 19 or has he just turned 20. But because Shaw is English they are talking absolutely silly money. Just happy that the big clubs are sniffing around him and not Ben.

There is a huge difference between Shaw and Zaha..

In the sense that Shaw is not pure over-rated ****

Of course, but as per usual a lot of our players are underated and always seem to be under priced.

I think history will show that Zaha will be a classic example of a player who was superb in the Championship but not good enough for the Prem. Those saying there is little difference between the divisions take note.

Danny Graham (arguably), Michael Chopra, and there are others. The end is listless.

Let's not forget Dorus de Vries and Darren Pratley who both failed to make a name for themselves in the Premier League.
