If a team comes 4th and loses the play off, do they go into the Europa League and do they take the place of another UK team in the Europa League?
I think the only way from the CL to the EL is by finishing third in the group stage isn't it? Lose in CL qualifiers and that's you out of Europe for the year.
I've never understood how the CL or the EL works. When Saints get involved in either, I'll do the studying.

I hope I remember this right. We were playing Blackburn away and there was some incident involving Bailey and Peter Osgood which ended in Osgood being sent off and effectively ending his career with Saints. You'd think half of Southampton was there but in reality in can have been no more than a few hundred at best, but word went round. Anyway, Bailey went to Everton and when he next came down he got a lot of stick from the crowd (not remotely good natured). From then on, whenever we played Everton he always seemed to have an injury, always last minute as him name was always on the programme. So, being a football crowd, we naturally took it out on anyone called Bailey who was unlucky enough to play against us! As a Bailey you will know that it isn't that rare a name but there are mysteriously very few top footballers with that name. That is because of the curse of Southampton.
