So it seems we are looking at three Cagliari players:

Victor Ibarbo (23 years old - Striker) Colombian International

Davide Astori (27 years old - Centre Back) Italian International

Adryan (19 years old - Attacking Midfielder) Brazil U17 and U20 International, suggested to be the new Kaka

Now it would make sense for Cellino to look at doing some deals with Cagliari, because he can set the transfer fees however he wants. Be interesting to see if this happens, story is on facebook posted by Cellino junior, so make of that what you will. I think everyone expects at least ONE Cagliari player to arrive in the summer. Who will it be?

One wonders what Cagliari supporters make of us allegedly nicking their best players. How would we feel if they nicked Ross, Mowatt, and Byram?

Can't see any player coming back from playing in the World Cup and turning out for us in this league. The young kid maybe as he needs an education.

If MC can sell his Italian club, things will be different, but whilst he still owns it and has bills and wages to pay, he can do whatever he wants, yet find it difficult to see an International even Columbian wanting championship football.

Absolutely no chance of landing Astori, the idea itself is beyond ludicrous. Ibarbo is almost as unlikely, he's a Colombian international and has enough of a reputation to seek a better move elsewhere. The Brazilian kid would be the most likely, and even then it'd probably only be a loan. Just because Cellino owns Cagliari doesn't mean the players there want to move to us!

Good points made ... consider this, Udinese players moved to WATFORD because their owner (Pozzi) said so, and look at the stellar season Watford had, coming unstuck and missing autos thanks to us on the final day of the season ... some made the move permanent, others went back to Udinese and have shone for them this season in Serie A ... different mentality in Italy, the players there know most of them have a chance at the Prem only through promotion with a Championship club ... Leeds is a massive club that WILL return to the top, so no harm in giving it a go rather than remain in mid table obscurity in Serie A ... I think if Cellino says to them "you're coming to Leeds to help me get to the Prem" then players will come, unless a Serie A club makes a bid for them ... the bottom line is they are employed by Cellino, and as long as they are earning and have a shot at glory then the stars are aligned and coming to Leeds is not so far fetched

If we reckon Ross is on at least £10k a week, maybe £15k, what would these guy be on playing for Cagliari? There's also a chance of Leeds being used as a stepping stone to the PL & a bigger club if we don't get promoted within 2yrs. So there is some possibility of one or two of these guys coming. Stranger things have happened.

Correct Boggers ... Serie A is not a cash-rich league anymore, and the entire Italian football league was on the brink of financial ruin ... that is why this season a club like AC Milan are struggling to get into the top ten, they simply don't have the wealth of the Prem to buy who they want ... Cagliari players will be on average Championship wages, and it showed when Cellino was "dismayed" that Leeds had a £20m wage bill ... I think there are a number of players from Italy who can be signed, and not just from Cagliari ... the Udinese players went to Watford on loan (ten of them) and those who signed on permanents this season were all free transfers because Pozzi obviously felt they were better for him at Watford if they could unlock the Prem riches ... players coming to Leeds from Cagliari on free transfers wouldn't surprise me at all, it would benefit Cellino massively if he got Leeds to the Prem quickly

Get what you are saying mate, but Astori has been linked with major clubs all over Europe, and given the choice between a couple of grand a week playing for a mid table Championship side and earning £40,000+ at a side playing in the Champions League, I know which one I'd choose. Plus, even if it was only for one season, playing in the Championship would seriously harm Astori and Ibarbo's international prospects. If Cellino manages to pull off some coups, then great, but I think people need a touch of realism. We're still a mid-table Championship side, albeit one with (hopefully) a bit of cash to spend.

Also worth pointing out that Cellino is trying to sell Cagliari - I can't imagine many buyers being interested if Cellino chooses to farm half the first team squad out to us. Potential buyers may even stipulate that he cannot do that in their terms. It's a different scenario to the Watford/Udinese one: the Pozzo family always had the intention of having control of multiple clubs, and they've been free to move those players around. Cellino is only interested in us.

The Udinese players Watford signed on loan were not 1st team players - the Cagliari players are!!

Can just see them shining in Brazil before coming to England to play for a team at the bottom of the 2nd tier <laugh>

Also worth pointing out that MC has said McCormack would be great in Italy. Looks like a swap deal to me

I would be very excited by the season start if we signed one of these players. Ibarbo is really the type of player that I think our squad NEEDS personally, albeit quite unlikely. Astori is well and truly out of our league and would be more likely to join a top 6 prem team, have never heard of Adryan so have no comment on him but you did sell him quite well there Billy

Hmmm ... never thought about Ross going the other way!! Ross for three of their players? What would be funny is if Cellino sent the likes of Tonge, Kenny and Norris to Cagliari in swap deals and then sold the club
