Edit: For the OP, when I left the forces we were offered some kind of relocation resettlement package, it was fairly extensive the list of stuff they could send you on. One particular industry that's currently booming and will continue to do so is Fraud detection and prevention via litigation companies and for insurance companies directly. The quals required are relatively basic analyst software, excel and so on, if you have an analytical mind there's a whole load of work of this kind going. Even self-funded I would doubt the qualifications would be too costly.
