Eh, Mourinho came out of that match with exactly what he wanted. They'll set up to try for 1-0 at home and i wouldn't bet against them. Bloody boring to watch though.
I think it is a dangerous game to try and play for a 1-0, as a goal for Atletico and there in big trouble. Atletico will be better suited to the game at SB as Chelsea won't play so deep, which will give them more space to exploit on the counter. They've won in the Bernabau this season, and there unbeaten in 2 visits to the Camp Nou this year, so they don't mind being away from home, as they play counter attack in the big games, so it suits them fine. The media are making out like this was a great result for Chelsea, when in fact it was just an ok result. The tie is still very much in the balance. Chelsea have home advantage, but a score draw is all Atletico need. It is abit of a blow that Gabi will miss the next game for them, but Chelsea will be missing a few to, so fingers crossed Atletico can put them out
Look at this way the only draw Chelsea can hope for is 0-0, other than that they have to win. They have to outscore Atletico. It is possible and also achievable. However, right now it's advantage Atletico bcos they don't even need to win, they just need a score draw.
Just to add to that, even if Chelsea score first, lead 1-0 throughout the match, their defence will be bricking it throughout. They'll have to be immense to handle the pressure.
That's a good point. Chelsea will never feel safe in the game unless they get 2 goals infront, and with Terry out and Luis likely to play centre half, there defence will do well to keep a clean sheet again
Based on that, now make of this what you will... Chelsea's CL semi-final scores under Mourinho: 0-0, 0-1, 1-0, 0-1, 0-0. That is the sum total of 1 goal scored in 480 minutes (inc extra time). But they've also not conceded many either.
West Ham come at Stamford Bridge and park the bus as the game ends 0-0. Jose Mourinho: "Only one team wanted to play football" Chelsea go to Calderon and park the bus as the game ends 0-0. Jose Mourinho's gonna be like: "I'm the special one"
Hopefully another reverse jinx after your 3-0 Atletico prediction, King Matth the 2nd. But without Terry and Cech, you are right, would fancy AM to get one With Lampard and Mikel suspended, Matic cup-tied and Van Ginkel just returning from injury, it is likely that Luiz will play in midfield alongside Ramires. Ivanovic returning from suspension could play CB alongside Cahill. With Liverpool refusing to move their game to a Saturday to help us (like Sunderland did), we'll play a B team of bus parkers at Anfield. Apologies but what can we do
I really don't see the problem with parking the bus to be honest. Defending is a skill and it's not just any team that can successfully defend as well as Chelsea do. They are one result away from the final of Europe again and I doubt any of us would moan if our team was to win the CL even if it was playing 'anti -football'. Fair play to em. I hope they win it.
Jose contradicts this. He said himself the game panned out in a way that meant they had to sit back. Same in 2012 under RDM, not tactics, necessity that was forced on them. The real question is why couldn't a quarter of a billion pounds worth of players string 5 passes together and maintain possession? You lot played Bayern and created more, Bayern far > Atletico
Apparently West Ham had no right to be playing like that, it seems playing 1800s style football is the remit of £250,000,000 chelsea squads. "one side tried to play football, one side didn't" Jose after west ham? Is that what Jose said about West Ham who's squad cost as much as Torres diamond studded open crotch mankini
Looking forward to our B team parking the bus on Sunday. If you win the league by three points, you title will be remembered as the most tainted part-time win ever
They were not forced into playing that way, you could see by his team selection that they where set up to play that way. They started with 4 midfield players, that had all mainly played as Defensive midfielders this season
You think chelsea had a full strength squad? We were missing Hazard, Matic, Ivanovic, Eto and cech (through injury).. Did you complain when united parked the bus against barcelona in 2008?
If it was a normal league game and your tactics weren't 19th century football, Schurrle and Oscar would have played instead of probably Mikel and Lampard. We did not park the bus in 08 either, we had Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez all on the field. We set up how we normally set up. I wouldn't mind but Mourinho has the cheek to have a go at West Ham for doing it, yet he's the biggest culprit for it
Yeah because all the other multi million pound sides in Europe regularly set up that way??? You've built this side of multi million pound footballers, and you approach games like Big Sam and Tony Pulis. You really think any other top side would have gone to Atletico and played that way. Atletico aren't a team that keep the ball like Barca or Bayern, there really was no need to set up like that
Only by you, there are 38 games so only a plastic numpty would say something like that, it's how you cope with the rage I guess, hope it works out for you Do you laugh at all our own jokes?
