    Valencia winger Vicente expects to join a Premier League club on a free transfer this summer and will make a decision on his future in the next few days.

    The 29-year-old is out of contract with Valencia at the end of this month after 11 years with the Primera Liga side.

    Blackburn, Newcastle and top-flight newcomers Swansea have all been linked with a swoop for the former Spain international.

    And Vicente admits he "desires to play in the Premier League" and is close to reaching a deal.

    He told Spanish newspaper Superdeporte: "In a few days I will decide my future and it will be in England."

    Vicente has notched up almost 250 appearances for Valencia since arriving from boyhood side Levante back in 2000.

    A left winger with above-average technique, pace and netting ability, his career, blighted by constant injuries,[1][2][3][4][5][6] was mainly associated with Valencia CF, for which he appeared in more than 300 official games over the course of 11 seasons.
    Vicente represented Spain at Euro 2004, being an international during the first half of the 2000's.

    He's a LW/LM, why would we be looking at him? Good player but he's not getting any younger & I'm not sure how he'll adapt to the style of play here. <ok>

    Can't see it happening, mind he'll be a good addition for a newly promoted team looking for experience.

    Seems unlikely because of his age and position which we now have plenty of cover for.

    He won't come to Newcastle as he only meets 1 of the 3 criteria for new signings.

    They must be

    1) Free (tick)
    2) Young
    3) Have something wrong with their body that could put an end to their career if they were to even sleep in a funny position.

    I used to work with a Project Manager named Vicente Rodríguez who was from Valencia.

    Maybe he's a twin?

    I'd rather Barnetta. Yeah, he'd cost more but he's younger and has played in a League somewhat similar to the Premier League
