I know the Chelsea fans will think this is a snipe at the club but it's not - I think Mourinho actually doesn't believe Chelsea have EVER been capable of winning any other way in knockout competitions. Whereas other clubs he's managed he's believed otherwise and played a more attacking style. Maybe he just doesn't believe Chelsea have the players or the mentality to do it any other way than to defend.

This is literally the first time we have ever been that defensive in a knock out competition with Mourinho.

Yes you will, well done. Does that change anything I've posted? Or even counter it? I've seen Mourinho at Porto, his second season at Inter, and his time at Real. Marked difference to his style at Chelsea in Europe.

Well you've used the term "that defensive", what does that mean? I haven't measured the different degrees of defensive by Mourinho at Chelsea. But I would say the semi legs in 2009 were pretty similar. And the post you're quoting followed on from stating Chelsea's CL semi-final scores under Mourinho: 0-0, 0-1, 1-0, 0-1, 0-0. As I said, 1 goal scored in 480 minutes (inc extra time).

That defensive as in, actually parking the bus (which entails almost no clear intent to score and just make sure the opposition scores none). The first set of semi-finals against Liiverpool had both teams took it very cautiously. In the second set of semi-finals against Liverpool, we were all over them in the 1st leg especially in the first half. The second leg had both teams going at it a fair amount, but Liverpool were never being any less defensive than us in any of those four games and it made it very difficult to break them down. Tactically Benitez got it spot on in all four of those matches.

Fair point, Mourinho knows how to keep a tight defence. Does he place more emphasis on it at Chelsea than at any other club he's managed in the Champions League though, at the expense of the attack? Not sure, but it seems so. At Inter he played with Etoo on the right with Milito up front. Granted them two were having a great season, but that was predominantly down to the tactics Mourinho was using.

Great result yesterday and confident we can beat them at the Bridge. Done well against the big teams this season at home so hopefully we'll make it to Lisbon!

Fed up with visiting wums causing disruption on every thread. Christ you're almost as bad as that Spud Hiag who got banned last year, like you his team had one good year then spent all his time being a t**t. I will be having a word with District as this cannot be tolerated.

Do so, mods can look back at where I asked Drogs a completely on topic question

I get on alright with some of the Chelsea fans and I like to talk about footie in general and not just Liverpool

Post 152 and my post was

"I think you'll go through, At Mad had no cutting edge at all. Hope we give you a better test on Sunday

Your last corner just over 95 mins gone I thought you were going to score. You miss Ivanovic at the back and in set pieces. Has a good shot on him as well

Is he missing this weekend? Is he injured? "

Cpofl comes in being aggressive on post 161. Seems he doesnt like it if you arent a Chelsea fan, as seen a hundred times before I even showed up it seems

There you go, its all there

You are clearly the catalyst, may I suggest you consider a self imposed ban say around 20 years?

Looking forward to our B team parking the bus on Sunday.

If you win the league fewer three points, you title will be remembered as the most tainted win ever (by a team that played part-time) <laugh>

Good work Jose. Tainting the tainted title won part-time on penalties<laugh>

Im sure the mods will see there is no reason to ban me

Whatever, whoever is top will deserve it

I dont think people will think "Tainting the tainted title won part-time on penalties" if we win it. It will be though of as winning it with not the best squad of players I reckon

No ones asking for you to be banned pal, we don't do that lightly on here but as a visitor you shouldn't go out of your way to wind the natives up as it were. Just wind your neck in a little perhaps?
