Overrated? I'd say so, he couldn't stop the sinking ship at Middlesbrough (however I'd say that was a mighty hard job!) And to me he never really stood out for me at Aston Villa. Some of you may agree.

Now that of course means that Liverpool will pay an insane price for him which he'll never live up too. What do you predict? I'm personally saying about £15M but it could be £17M at a stretch. If it's £15M that will mean they've spent £75M on three overpriced pieces of mediocrity..

It couldn't of happened to a nicer bunch on blokes...:1980_boogie_down:

    Edit: £70M not £75M <doh>

Sorry but I think Downing is exactly the player the bindippers need , they need someone who be able to whip in decent crosses for Shirley.

He's looked better at Villa than at Boro, a good player, but never ever worth £17-20m. In a sensible market he's fetch £9-10m.

As for £70m for Carroll, Henderson and Downing <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

Even Carroll isn't tall enough to get on the end of a Downing cross.

on form? Carroll is on form is he...? Downing is so inconsistent it's not even funny and Henderson is unproven yet they COULD spend £70 million (or more) on them. It's a joke.

Carroll was on form, he'd scored 11 goals in 19 games. Downing played his way back into the England squad, and Henderson snuck in too early doors. Maybe the term should have been fashionable, a la City when they signed Lescott, Barry etc for equally stupid money.

Carroll was injured when Liverpool signed him..<doh>
Gareth Barry is part of the England squad..
And Ranger is a feature in the England under 21 squad with Henderson, why aren't they signing him?

I don't think you can justify the price they've put on them three players alone.

I'm not justifying any of them, I'm saying they're doing exactly what City did in signing alright English players for stupid fees. Barry, Lescott, Henderson and Downing were all hyped by the press which contributed to their massive fees for fairly average players.

And sod your facepalm, Carroll had been injured through January but had ripped the league to bits first 4 months of the season, how was that not on form?
