This grumpy camel has avoided the Walsall trip today, I was originally going to go but after Orient I decided I've seen enough on the road this season. Albeit despite some good adventures much written about here on not606. In truth the cancellation of my trip was partly swayed by personal circumstances for tomorrow and did i really fancy spending today on a coach, no not really. At 51 points we are safe, aren't we?...so nothing to gain or lose in the trip to the black country, might as well save my pennies for the looming ST prices, although Mr Scally don't take advantage i'm not confirming i'm purchasing one, I can cancel that idea as quickly has i did today's trip. So package wisely Mr Chairman. So what about today, start Dack and Hessy and the rest I don't really care, well apart from the obvious in goal Stuart Nelson and it would be good to see the little guy start, you know the one i mean, he's always one tackle from a card! Good luck lads and i'll see you all next at home (after Preston) against Shrewsbury. Discuss the game, discuss whatever you want really, even me being a plastic...
Personally I'd be all for throwing on kids and fringe players, who cares? BRB put it well when he said he couldn't really be bothered, baring a Mathematical freak of nature we are still in League 1 next year. Would feel sorry for those going today if we do simply go and take the piss by playing a team with the average age of 6 and 3/4 but its probably better in the long run if we do, throw that Keeper we got from West Ham between the sticks and see how he does, sticking with our fairly mediocre to poor squad for the last 3 games is pointless just do a Burton Albion away last year, play kids, get beat but give them a bit of experience, the debate about youth and experience has been a big part of this season so we may as well give some people experience so when they play next year they know what will be expected of them. May seem a bit flippant to say this and come across as being even more plastic than BRB but I'm bored of this season now and am keen for it to end. We've basically spent our whole season thinking 'were safe now...oh no wait were back in the dogfight...oh no we have to be safe' over and over again, maybe I'm just grumpy because in the last few weeks I've completely Balls the prediction league but after the excitement of last year this one as been a bit more of a typical Gills season...abject mediocrity.
I've upgraded - and it's blue - just to annoy my neighbour ) https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/..._I2s2st20RQ6FrFKHCcTs8qKw2l2eid6T-8Pe9hfeYraJ
A good point but it is not done yet, Carlisle can get overtake us if they win the remaining three games and Notts County can get the same points total and have a better goal difference... squeaky bum anyone?
The first half did sound like it was the last game of the season, with both Teams minds elsewhere.Walsall started the half a couple of gears higher it seemed, and they took the lead quite early in the second half. They put quite a bit of pressure on us and it seemed quite inevitable that Walsall would grab the killer goal, luckily they didn`t.Taylor brought on Bayo and they said he linked up with Cody well. That was proved correct when on 84 minutes Bayo put Cody through who scored the equaliser. That was his 16th goal of the season,a great record in a struggling side.Bayo and Cody work really well together,so hopefully we will sign Bayo up next season aswell.Lee had a chance to win it late on,but he was denied. Even though its not mathematical yet,I think we will be safe come Saturday evening whatever our result.
Nope. Not for the past month either. I reckon we've been "basically" safe for a while now. Nice to see Hess & Dack both started. brb?
We've seen Bayo put Cody in on goal numerous times both this season and when they were together before but i think yesterdays assist was the best i have seen. Eyes in the back of the head stuff and a great first touch and early hit from Cody giving the keeper no chance. It's a no brainer to give the big guy another contract. COYG
Yes, I was pleased to see them in the starting line up, also a good league point gained. Didn;t comment earlier not having attended the game. I have quite a bit going on at the moment and will not be going to Preston either, although i never really intended too. I will be at the last home game Shrewsbury though and will be expecting PT to be experimenting unless something goes drastically wrong to put us at threat of the drop again, although we surely have done enough now. I'm not sure when Davies' loan is up at Dover but maybe give him a chance again in the back four to impress.
