I reckon this would be a marriage made in heaven, a club that's won nowt for 60 years with a manager that's won nowt in his entire career, get on to it Agent Ashley.
Still don't think he is that bad a manager Had a very similar problem to MON in the fact of lacking discipline Whilst he caused problems by getting rid of the entire back room staff and disrespecting some of the older characters in the dressing room (Giggs/Ferdinand) a lot of the younger players were reported to be out drinking at ridiculous times of the night If he had kept the likes of Phelan/Meulensteen on and gradually changed the backroom staff I believe he would of done a lot better, but changing everything in one go was probably his biggest mistake
I'd be mortified if he went to the Toon. Don't kid yourself that he's a bad manager, he simply wasn't right for the biggest club on earth. He could easily make the Toon CL, easily. He may well end up at West Ham like.
Wouldn't want that. If given the time Pardew has had, he could turn them into a decent outfit. They look shocking under Pardew, i'd rather it stay this way, they've got relegation battle written all over them next season.
At the end of this season, no matter who survives and who comes up, Newcastle are my firm favourites for relegation. They are as bad a Premier League team as I've ever seen under Pardew, Mike Ashley must be a regular at the Tyneside burns unit the amount of fire he plays with. Arsenal and Liverpool to play away for them, I'd imagine they'll end up with another -10 on their goal difference between now and the end of the season. A couple of years ago they had a solid, decent team with star quality, now they are a fragile, pathetic unit of foreigners with no direction. Ashley's got a lot to do this summer and nobody will be coming in for any of his players... I'm having £100 on it as soon as somebody will give me some odds.
If he had kept the likes of Phelan/Meulensteen on and gradually changed the backroom staff I believe he would of done a lot better, but changing everything in one go was probably his biggest mistake[/QUOTE] 100% this. Why would you bin successful coaches of a fairly ordinary side for your preferred coaches who have won sweet FA? Bad move from the very start.
And this. Moyes will get the next big job that is available. Bet there are a few managers twitching now that he is available. Whilst Martinez is doing great job at Everton, Moyes had many seasons there with relative success on a fairly tight budget. Not sure which manager could have achieved more with a very ordinary Utd squad this season. No one fears them anymore.
He is a rich mans Alan Pardew. No deal for me. It is inevitable we will get him though and when we do, it will be an unmitigated disaster!
Favourites for relegation? Wind your neck in mate. Whilst I am under no illusions that with the current management structure, we will no doubt be in and around the relegation places next season, to say we are your favourites smacks of lunacy.
You're basing that purely on the idea that you'll strengthen where necessary, and if that's the case, once you've done your shopping I'll re-evaluate my statement in accordance with the quality that you may or may not buy. Currently, you are the worst team in this division by a distance, not on paper you understand, under your manager, you are toothless. The two teams that are definitely coming up both have better strike force than Newcastle without Remy, you have to hope that you sign players who will score goals mate. Surely you can understand why I have said this, you've scored what 3 goals since Cabaye left? Come on mate, I'm not exactly barking mad for saying that.
Moyes fits into Ashleys plan perfectly. Work with a small budget and deliver mid table finish. I'd settle for that atm.
How does it smack of lunacy mate? Look at the form table, long term. You ARE the worst team in the league, that flying start saved your ass. Man for man, course you shouldn't be, but you are. I'd agree, I'd have you with Burnley and whoever wins play-offs as relegation faves, as it stands.
Wouldn't want Moyes myself. If Pardew goes (hope he does) then I'd want either Rosler or Eddie Howe. Sadly I just can't see Pardew going. As for us going down, not a chance. Mike Ashley is far from ambitious, he's also far from an idiot and the idea of missing out on the Premier League gravy train is unthinkable for him. We'll strengthen, just not past the point of having any hope of challenging the top 6. I'd estimate we'll finish anywhere from 9th to 14th next season. We were threatened with relegation last season and he went and spent the best part of 30m in January. He'll do exactly the same next season if we're in trouble, that's what he does. He protects his investment without actually improving it (if that makes sense).
I think Rosler is going to be a top, top manager mate, and I think he could do it right now in the Prem, he's just so ****ing German and thorough, he's got no charisma whatsoever, but you can't help but like the fella. In truth, he may effectively take 2 clubs up this season, Warburton has done grand for Brentford, but Rosler built a unit that simply never knows it's beat. Howe, well I doubt he'll ever leave Bournemouth, given the circumstances of his return, you question his bottle outside the comfort zone, done great things down there of course.
Mate, my quote wasn't directed at your players, you have near enough a set of players who would comfortably stay in this division with the addition of a goal scorer of course. Even if you don't sign one, I'd still fancy Cisse to get the goals IF you sacked that clown Pardew. Ashley doesn't need to financially bail you out, he just needs to appoint somebody who knows something about football. Rossler, perfect. Moyes would probably do a brilliant job there, I have no idea what's going to happen but right now you can't buy a point and your namesake is going to have to come to Pardew's rescue again.
Very true regarding Howe, could well be Bournemouth's very own Dario Gradi. I'd love Rosler as our next manager. As you say, he just seems to have this steel and determination about him that he's going to succeed no matter what. His teams are very athletic and hard working and he's a breath of fresh air as far as I'm concerned. As stated though I doubt Pardew will go and even if he does we wouldn't get Rosler as he'd still be seen as a gamble due to lack of experience and also due to Ashley's relationship with Whelan.
Pure attack as well Rosler sides mate, I'd have a bit of envy if that came to be. Pretty sure he went Wigan in the main as his family is NW based, so I think he'll stick there, they could easily come up via play-offs, which would be an incredible achievement from where he started. You can't fail to be impressed by what he's done.
We are 17th in the form table after Christmas. I did say under our current management we would be in and around the relegation spots. Pardew has lost the dressing room. It is as clear as day. If he stays, I will prepare myself for impending relegation but mark my words, we won't be bottom!
