Adel Taarabt insists he is happy at Queens Park Rangers, but claims Arsenal and Chelsea have made contact regarding a potential deal.

The Moroccan playmaker was an inspirational figure in helping QPR secure a return to the Premier League last season and has been linked with several clubs.

The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster suggested over the weekend that he would be open to a move to Newcastle United after being rated in the £10million bracket by QPR.

He has now claimed title contenders Arsenal and Chelsea have shown an interest in his services following his impressive impact at Loftus Road.

However, while Taarabt waits to see if any of his suitors follow up their interest, he also stressed he is enjoying playing for Neil Warnock's side.
    Muddled

Speaking to L'Equipe, Taarabt said: "QPR will demand £10million for me, and for now, the clubs do not move too much.

"I had contact with Arsenal and Chelsea, but it is a little muddled [difficult]. Arsenal have not yet sold [Cesc] Fabregas, and as for Chelsea, they do not yet have a coach, so we will see.

"I would like to stay in London - it is the best city in the world, and with Queens Park Rangers? Why not?

"When I talked with the coach, he told me the club would aim to be in the top eight."

Fabregas strength is his ability to pass
Taarabt's strength is trying to take another player on when he should pass

Not sure I buy it into much of this either, all his comments probably blown way out of proportion and a mountain has been made out of a mole hill!

Top eight!? If Warnock can get us to finish in the top eight next season without improving the current squad beyond recognition I shall fall to my knees and worship him as a God.

Taarabt says HE has had contact from Arsenal and Chelsea? He has, not QPR?

In my eyes (and the eyes of the FIFA and FA rules) isn't that 'tapping up'?

Warnock told Tarbs that we would finish top 8! with players like Clarke, Helguson, Hulse and Agyemang still on the books this is extremely doubtful!

Top eight? With some quality additions we can make 17th. Remember the last time we finished top 8? 94/95 with Sir Les, Sinclair etc?

Now compare that with our current squad!! :emoticon-0108-speec

I think I have seen NW's cunning plan!!! initially NW will announce that his First team consists of Clarke, Agyeman and co and he leaves DVD's of all their peformances in the opposing dressing rooms. Then the opposition's midfield and defence will be laughing their heads offs and not bother. NW will introduce 3 Supersubs in Mackie, Routledge (IF we can sign him) and another quick player with an eye for goal and we nick the game 1 -0.

Although there are one or two teeny weeny flaws in this approach, with the way our board are spending I can only see this as THE most feasible plan we have.

Something tells me that much of what has been said (allegedly) is just a wind-up. The tabloids speak bollocks most of the time, full of exaggerations or pure fantasies, so why shouldn't some of the players do that too? If he wants to use them to remind the likes of Chelsea, Man U and Barcelona that he exists, then why not?

However, the Jordanesque publicity is only good if he can back it up next season ... at QPR. He knows that he must perform on the pitch if he is to get a move.

@SkyBet_Steve: Newcastle continue to be linked with QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt. He's 5/1 to join the Toon, 7/1 Chelsea and Arsenal and 16/1 to move to Liverpool
