Good day to everyone I'm a newbie on here and nervous about posting with all you race-wise people. I have been following UK mainland racing off and on since 1951 and nowadays mainly follow the market. The mainland prize money on offer is not all that great despite the number of meetings and in the end I opted for the Chepstow 3.50 attempting to clear £20 on whichever of my three wins at current Betfair odds: Galway Jack £5 Savant Bleu £7 Makethe Mostofnow £2
Oh dear. That run against Fine Moment did her no favours. The winner was upped 7lbs to 115 after that. Purely based on the other 2 runs she could have got a much lower mark. Glad to hear she is fine. Nice time of year to be resting; plenty of fresh grass. You have plenty of time with her. Our Dancing Brave granddaughter developed a ton after coming to us as a 5yo; totally different animal.
17.10 Plumpton - Ballyvoneen- 5/2 Has everything in his faavour for this race and loves plumpton and will be very hard to beat
Afternoon all - trust all had a good easter.. I have had a poor time of it in the Nationals this season .. backed Teaforthree in the English and Welsh Nationals - no return Big Shu in the English National - no return and Yes Tom in the Scottish National - looked good with 3 fences to jump and then same outcome!! They are a bit of a lottery and of course the Irish National is no different. Look at the prices of the recent winners but hey i like a challenge!! I cant say to you all back these but I have!! lol Rich Revival 25/1 GP EW 5 places (was well backed last year and 5lbs lower this year. Stable in good form. I hope its soft enough for him) Heaney 28/1 GP EW 5 places (has had a break and if fit enough can run in to a place) Good luck to all today....
Welcome Jonal. Nationals have served me well this year with GOULANES (Midlands), BALTHAZAR KING and TRUSTAN TIMES all doing very nicely despite the burden of my money. Of course I am with PENDRA today and a side order of ROGUE ANGEL too! Early doors four in trebles and acca; Solar Impulse 1.30 Kelvingrove 1.45 Maller Tree 1.55 Should I Stay 2.00
6.05 Fairyhouse Dushrembrandt 11/1 I think Dushrembrandt will either bolt up or absolutely flop but I think an opening handicap mark of 108 could prove very lenient for this dual Point To Point winning half brother to Gold Cup runner up Sir Rembrandt with this 8 year old's chasing mark a full 16lb below his mark over hurdles. Although both Point to Point victories back in 2012 were average affairs, he showed some really decent form over hurdles and his mark of 125 looks fully justified with a hurdling debut win over Love Rory and a runner up berth behind (the albeit easy winner) Road To Riches in a Grade 3 Novice event the highlights in 4 runs over hurdles to date. Although his 3 chasing starts to date on bottomless ground have resulted in heavy defeats, I thought he travelled well for a long way on his last two starts (was a well backed favourite on his final start) before blowing up and finishing under a considerate Philip Enright and I think the switch to handicap company and the return of better ground (which Tyner said brings out the best in him) could see a much improved performance from this unexposed 8 year old. Pitched into this competitive handicap chase, Dushrembrandt has a lovely racing weight to carry of just 10-3 and although he clearly needs to finish off his race much better today but if he does a mark of 108 could prove a vast underestimation of his ability and it's certainly looks notable that he's pitched into a valuable contest in a big field on his first handicap start. I also like the look of 4.45 Yarmouth Ana Shababiya 6/1 who ran a fine race off this mark when 3rd at Leicester on her seasonal reappearance and if building on that effort I'm confident of a win today in what could be a good season for the filly with William Buick taking over in the saddle. Will be cheering Broctune Papa Gio all the way home to the line. He's a horse I've liked for a long time and hopefully he can win this for his late owner which would certainly be a fitting tribute. Certainly looks like he has a big chance on paper and hopefully he can land this.
First selection is a non runner now but as I still fancy a crack at the race I will go for First Class trained by Rae Guest at 13-2. I am also doing what you should apparently never do which is change your bets, however I cannot get away from the Luca's need the run idea and so have gone for Valen from Michael Bells yard with a reverse forcast with Lawyer. Valen was tried in Listed class at the end of last season and could well be progressive and at 7-1 is worth opposing the Cumani Favourite previously selected. My face awaits the egg as Lawyer scoots in.
