Garry Monk - hire or fire?

1. I don't want him as manager after the end of this season

2. I'm prepared to give him 12 games next season and see what happens

3. I'd like to see him get the job permanently

And if he fails we'd be almost a third way into the season. Too much of a gamble imo based on what we've seen so far.

Your arguments would hold a lot more merit if you didn't keep pushing the idea that anyone who doesn't want him to become full time manager automatically wants him to fail.

Whoever gets the job next will have a big job to do. A lot of deadwood needs to be shifted. Big decisions need to be made about the futures of Rangel, Vorm, Flores and probably a couple more. Serious money will have to be spent. Do you seriously believe that entrusting that task to a managerial novice is really the smartest move that the club can make?

The biggest gamble was came before Monks promotion but that might be considered another conversation for another thread.

Just like Bony and Shelvey we can expect singings to be made by the board. Monk may have an opinion but doubtful he'd be the final authority, same as before really.

Also my comments about him failing is on the basis that if he does win the next three games his appointment by the board for the remainder of the season would been seen as an incontestable success. Six wins in the thirteen would be a brilliant return at any stage in the Premier League. That would mean he starts next season as the boss, so for him to not get the job he has to lose games and thus the club has to lose games.

I haven't yet said I believe you directly or indirectly want the club to fail, I just skipped that little technical aspect of my argument hoping others would be able to see it. It is quite a startling realisation when it is seen that Monk's appointment next season is directly related to his last three games. I want the club to win.

I expect the decision whether or not to start with a new manager has already been taken Project and has little to do with winning the last three games.

Not sure if that is the case, the board know it is prudent to hedge their bets.

Problem is he'd have put team together and taken pre-season, then if not good enough a third of the season has gone and a new manager has to get used to the set up and players.
If there Re doubts I think we have to bring in a new man and the sooner the better.

By the end of the season he'd have had 3 months experience in the PL, so I'm prepared to give him a chance to get rid of those sulking and bring his own players in. He's done very well for me so far so I'd be happy with giving him a chance.

The board also signed n'gog, and a load of players that never even made the first team.

It would not supprise me if our club look at those they know,we have plenty of form for that with the likes of trundle ,bessone, christian edwards and marvin . so its not beyond the realms of possibility that we go for Gomez,Siggy,Borini and sinclair once more if the board get heavily involved again , and there is no reason to suggest they wont.

If we can keep the squad together it will need minimal work. Ki will return also, all depends on what type of manager they go for really.

Bony is the ig worry for me,sell him and i cant see where the goals are going to come from,Michu will never hit the same heights ever again so its critical to keep Wilf on board at least for another season.

The problem is that Wilf signed because we had european football and because we were the perfect stepping stone into the Premier league. Im worried about this more than anything i must say!

If we stay up it will be in spite of Monk not because of him,if he is made manager it will be a disaster IMO .

Nothing wrong with Emnes, matter of fact we should sign him permanently, and it looks like Liverpool will be wanting to off load Borini come summer at half price, I hope Huw Jenkins has his eye on the situation, would love him to replace Lita, and Aloevera!..................<cheers>

Given the above comment on Borini, would anyone else take Sinclair back if the opportunity arose? Routledge looks good on the left but one thing Sinclair did for us was provide some great crosses which we still lack to an extent.

Borini has still to prove he's good enough at this level imo. Not exactly prolific and took a poor pen v Chelsea that the keeper got completely wrong. Great for us in getting us promoted but since then? Not for me. Not fancied in his homeland and Rodgers shipped him out. Speaks volumes.

Also the comment that Monk has "done better than Laudrup" is daft. I'm the first to admit we were drifting under Laudrup but overall Luadrup's record in the prem and taking us to our first cup was pretty impressive. Monk is limping us over the line right now and has a very long way to go before he can get us anywhere near what we achieved under his predecessor.

And yes, I'd take Sinclair back though I understand why some would not. The guy is wasting his career.

I'd have Borini back in an instant but Scott does come with baggage so whether he'll knuckle down without too much interference from "she who must be obeyed "remains to be seen .At best a squad player at the moment because there's no way he'll get in side ahead of Routledge .

I thought he ditched her last year after she continued her antics in Manchester.

Helen Flanagan tells OK! Magazine that West Brom winger Scott Sinclair is moving to London

Celebrity beauty lets slip that Sinclair's spell at The Hawthorns is set to end in the summer
Helen Flanagan moved to Birmingham to spend more time with her boyfriend Scott Sinclair
Former Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan has scored an own goal in her latest interview, accidentally revealing that her footballer boyfriend Scott Sinclair is likely to leave West Bromwich Albion at the end of the season.

The model told OK! magazine that she and Scott had been building a house in London - before adding that the couple “won’t be staying in Birmingham”.

Which suggests Scott probably won’t be playing for West Brom for much longer.

Flanagan said: “Scott breaks up in about six weeks and we’ll know where we’re going. With my work I can travel where I want to, and you want to be with the person you love.

“We don’t know where we’re going, but we won’t be staying in Birmingham.

"We’re actually building a house near London at the moment that will be ready by Christmas.”

Scott is currently on loan at The Hawthorns from Manchester City, but has only made seven appearances this season.

However, when the pair move to London it’s unlikely that he will continue to play for the Manchester side.

Flanagan, who played Rosie Webster in ITV soap Corrie, said she wants to have four children with Sinclair and may start trying for a baby this summer.
