Livermore - was outstanding ...how many times has he hit the post this season. That was the turning point...and Mosses non-call on the Jelavic foul. Davies - only good display in a very poor defensive effort by the rest. What was Harper playing at? Thudd - Always trying to open things up but our strikers seem devoid of ideas. What a contrast with Arsenal.
I think Davies showed yesterday with the first and third goals why he's not in the England frame. Just watched the highlights, he was hesitant for the first and didn't read Ramsey's run and the third, Christ he was having a Steve Harper daydream.
Haven't seen the highlights but judging Davies international credentials on the evidence of 2 goals in a single match seems quite harsh.
He was obviously judged prior on more than 2 goals and a single game, what I was getting at is he just isn't quite up to top quality standard, and used yesterday's game as an example. You plank.
For me, Davies was our best signing last summer, and our most consistent player. How many times has Hodgson actually turned up to a Hull City game this season to judge him? (Answer: Twice, and one of those occasions was more to do with an evaluation of Adam Johnson's form)
Davies has been immense I won't argue with that, but do you really think Hodgson gets paid multi million pounds a year to sit and watch one or two games every weekend? What else does he do with his time? Something tells me he sits and endures every single premier league game back at the office, if he doesn't then he's not doing his job properly.
Personally I think England will have a mediocre World Cup and Cleverley will end up with a squad place purely because Hodgson doesn't want to lose face.
Firstly i hardly doubt Hodgson has only seem him twice and secondly Davies isn't quite international standard for me either. He has been excellent for us but at the very top level i don't think he would make it. He is by far better than any centre back we could get but that doesn't mean he should play for England necessarily. My MOTM: Huddlestone Livermore Jelavic
I don't think many people here actually think he should play for England, just that he should make the squad.
