With his future still up in the air, there is the inference in the press, this morning, Rio Ferdinand may be set for a return to London. Apparently, if Rio cannot agree terms with Manchester United for a one year deal then he could very well be joining up with Harry Redknapp, at Queens Park rangers. However, we are told that such a deal would only happen if Queens Park Rangers gain promotion back to the Premier League this season. It seems a deal with the Loftus Road outfit would suit Rio with it being hinted that Harry, no stranger to TV work himself, would encourage Rio to continue his work with BT Sport whilst also providing Queens Park Rangers with an experienced voice in the dressing room. From what I heard a few months ago, if I was a betting man I would bet on him going back to West Ham. We already have 2 old CB's we really don't need another!
Great, we can rotate him, Dunne and Hill at CB, and sell Onouha. Does Rio bring Anton with him for spare parts? For pity's sake don't use the brain!!!
When I was a kid there was something romantic about the old ex-international warhorse dropping down a division or two and seeing out the last knockings of his career before inevitably becoming landlord of some pub or other. These days they seem to do it to preserve massive incomes, nurture ambitions for the media career ahead and ultimately show contempt to their new fans through performances so wanting and indifferent you'd be forgiven for believing they couldn't give a toss.
As much as I don't want to see him play in the hooped shirt, maybe, bring him in as someone that would work with the current defenders.....just a thought
Stanley Matthews played till he was 50 and he was a winger, Rio is only a centre half he should be ok for another 15 year
**** me, this thread looks like I've been cloned a dozen times! Finally, you all understand how I feel about just about every player Redknapp is linked with.
