You mean a bit like Bale..? I think he might add left sided midfield to his repertoire, but his quick passing and final ball has to improve. It happens in every game, but against Villa, Shaw put in several fast paced crosses and low passes. All of them just behind the advancing player. The pundits blamed both Lambert and Lallana for their misses, but the balls weren't easy to accept. Mind you, at the rate he improves every game, I don't see it being a problem for too long.
Shaw's a very good defender who has the pace and stamina to keep getting up and down the pitch. Yesterday his crosses caused Villa problems, but he looks like a Full Back to me. Full Back being the hardest working position on the field, I'd say Luke was well suited.
Can't believe no-one's mentioned Schneiderlin's passing, absolutely superb all game and could've had a couple of assists. My MOTM yesterday just ahead of Lovren
I dunno about Shaw as a midfielder. Seems to me as if (the Villa game aside) his defensive game is much stronger than attacking, while Bale was always more of an attacker - certainly more so than Shaw.
In many ways I hope Shaw doesn't follow in Bale's footsteps, and ultimately becomes a left winger. You wont get many better LBs, from a defensive point of view, who can also offer something valuable offensively. Defensively, Shaw could be as good as any LB who has gone before him.
