Give it 9 months - I suspect we'll hear the phrase 'we can't compete with the likes of Crystal Palace'. That will be it for me.

I mentioned Laudrup for you guys on the match thread, some thought i was being sarcarstic but in all honesty i think he would do really well there.

There were off field reasons for it not working out in his second season with us,namely his agent and our board falling out over laudrup not getting the players he was requesting and slow movment from our board to secure others, this left a bitter taste in the mouth for some board members who then banned Laudrups agent from the club.

We then had some senior players not being too happy with his training methods, feeling that they wernt intense enough, the same training that won us the cup, helped us finish 9th and helped us to play Valencia off the park on their own patch, the lack of intensity could be explained away as Laudrup not wanting to burn out his players being as they were still in the FA cup after out playing Man utd at Old Trafford ,still in the final stages of europe and sitting 11th in the prem league.

Laudrup is a very astute guy, if he has the right back up in terms of an ambitous board who dont interfere then he can do a very good job, his knowledge of picking up good cheap players was critical for us to survive last year and indeed this year, it was a real shame there was a parting of ways as i thought Laudrup was a very decent manager for Swansea.

Nobody came out of the sacking with any credit, laudrup isnt perfect, neither are our board or some senior players like Monk, but i think Newcastle could do alot worse than Laudrup.

just my thoughts, a club like Newcastle needs to be progressive and going for a long ball manager will mean you have gone around in a big circle and ended up back where you were under big sam.

I agree with everything you said, with the results and the attention Laudrup brought to Swansea, he should never of been questioned. Laudrup continued the enormous progress Roberto Martinez made at Swansea and did so with class.

I hope Gary Monk forges a good management/coaching career. He has been with Swansea since the project began and he deserves the treatment he's getting.

Pretty sure we wouldn't ask for compensation for Harry Redknapp. Just lay on the daily jet from Bournemouth and he's yours.

Go on, you know you want him. Please. pretty please.

Get The Pullis in - I actually like the guy and I hate Pardew beyond belief. Just someone new to freshen things up in some way - any sort of ****ing way really. I'm tired of King **** and his constant array of excuses.

Urgh. No. Tony Pulis. Absolutely not, I'd rather see Pardew stay. An appointment like that screams the same sort of mid-table mediocrity that has been on the menu for the past decade or more.

They are still direct at times. However they have been better. He claims it simply comes down to the players at your disposal. That displays a lack of honesty on his part. He forgets how long he was at Stoke (7 years), plenty of time to change the players to change the style of play. He'd have been far better being honest and saying "look I've been long ball all my career, but I realised after Stoke that the fans weren't happy so I've tweaked my style"

There will always be an element of directness in his play. It will never be next generation football. The majority have banged on and on about tika taka style of Martinez, Rodgers etc, you might as well go down that route and try to keep fans onside. Maybe Eddie Howe would be the best in that regard. Personally I'm not as obsessed with that style but I do think getting fans onside at our place is crucial.

Thought I'd share a rumour with you all. Again. I read somewhere that everything is lined up, that Parpoo will move upstairs and Roberto Di Matteo will be manager in the Summer. The reason it's not already happened is some deal he's on with Roman would mean any club wanting him now would have to pay Chelsea compo. This is also why Joke wasn't specifically replaced. Plausible til you get to the next bit claiming a 100m kitty has been promised! Anyway, I'd be happy with it.
