Beefy, did you see Liverpool struggle to beat Wycombe in THE FA Cup Semi Final at Villa Park? Now we are fighting to stay in the Football League
Although not a fan of Jose he does have a point about the quality of refereeing as this title has been decided by referee decisions. Should we look at just the last few matches Liverpools second against West Ham was dubious at best as the keeper got the ball first, (penalty given). Against city The big centre back took out the city player on the edge of the area, no doubt in anyone's mind (no penalty given). Skirtel blatantly punches the ball away in his own area with the replays showing the ref in full view (no penalty given), now Sunderland get awarded a penalty that 9 out of ten would never give and again it is to Liverpools advantage. Add in the other decisions such as Suarez not getting his second yellow and other bad calls and Liverpool have been very fortunate in these last few games. My issue is that Referees are making wrong decisions week in and week out and yet never own up and seem beyond criticism. They need help via replay technology with decisions fed into their ear piece. If this was available you have the league table looking very differently after the last 3 matches. None of them are my team by the way but I would pay to see City out of the three as in David Silva I feel they have the most talented footballer in the league. Suarez is indeed talented but so easily dislikeable with his biting and diving, whilst Chelsea although highly effective seem to win through negativity which is never something to be applauded.
There's some cracking opportunities tomorrow punting wise. Happy Easter all. I fancy United at Everton today. Not bothering otherwise. I agree Ballycasey is there to win but not sure his price is right.
Sorry Bluesky but thats complete rubbish. Poor refereeing affects everyone, we had an onside goal chalked off at the Ethihad being just one decision 'against' us springs to mind! The reason we'll win the league is very simple. It's because we're the best side, who are playing the best football and are absolutely destroying anything put in front of us at the minute. Doing it in this pulsating style, whilst on a budget the fraction of Chelski and Citeh, simply makes the achievement even more special in my opinion.
Vulcanite N/R Talking of touches, any news regarding Pendra in the National tomorrow? Quoted @ 20/1 with the bookmakers at 2P.M. today, but quoted @ 60 with the layers on Betfair ,to small money,, do they know something we don't? Good Luck!
As a neutral Beef I would have to say that Man City are a much better team in my opinion and completely unplayable on their day. The credit I feel is due to Liverpool is however what you have mentioned regarding budget, it is a testament to a good manager that he has built an undoubted top three team on quality with far less resources than the others. What is pleasing is that he has found progression in them from last season crafted from good management and team spirit rather than just having written a chq which seems to be the lazy and chosen route nowadays for wealthy owners. Like horses it's all opinions, but for me and as a neutral City are a pleasure to watch, Arsenal with teeth is how I would describe City.
arsenal running a muck today.such a shame we missed ramsay and ozil for a big part of the season.can see us giving hull another good spanking in the fa cup final and they will be missing jetavic & long. i'm hoping for a big run from wounded warrior in the 4.10 at fairy.has some very decent bumper form against the likes of shaneshill and killutagh vic and runs off a nice mark, decent bet for me at 13/2.
Talking of crap refs - the foul on Snodgrass at the edge of the box, the wee Arsenal fella gets fouled twice yet no pen as they had a shot on goal! The advantage rule is nonsense! More advantage in a penalty! The West Ham boy that never fell definite penalty. The consistency is there, they are all huam they are all prone to mistakes!
Good race at Plumpton next up - difficult one to call though, with plenty weighted to go well. I'd like to see Dildar go well here
Why they don't use the TV playback for an instant and undisputed decision I'll never know. Everyone sitting at home watching gets the benefit so why not the ref? Meanwhile, some team could have their whole season (and potentially the next season) ruined.
ron they wont use it us it will slow the game down and half the drama about the game is about dodgy refs decisions.granted that the ball is actualyl in play for only 70 mins of a match bringing in video evidence wills surely slow the game down more-i think a both managers should have one 'judgement call' per game,i think they do something similar in american football
I don't think it will slow down the game ste. As you say it would have to be restricted as in Tennis(for example) - 3 calls max. Given the amount of time wasted following an extremely controversial decision, it could even save time whilst also saving the ref from abuse and stopping games from being ruined.
Fair enough Bluesky but you seem to be in the minority as most neutrals are rooting for us due to the way we play the game! I'd definitely agree City's squad is on a different level to ours! But 96 goals (fitting?) after 35 games, 11 straight wins, smashing all sorts of goal scoring records not to mention more than matching City in our games against them....considering preseason I was just hoping to get top 4! All considered not bad for a team that finished 7th last year with hugely limited resources compared to our sheik funded money lavished rivals Must say fellow Norn Irish man Brendan Rodgers has performed miracles. His man management and tactical astuteness is really shining through in our quest for the title, playing football the right way. Will be very interesting to see for the ENGLAND fans in the WC will the slightly less dynamic Woy Hodgson have Sterling, Henderson and Sturridge playing the fearless, attacking way Brendan has...
Yes, indeed Ron. That season we definitely got the rub of the green...I still feel partly embarrassed by the how the heck we won the FA Cup Final that year. Now THAT was lucky!
