I'm talking about Raheem Sterling. What the actual **** is going on? I've heard stories from my Dad of John Barnes, seen various clips and goals, can he [Sterling] emulate him? He has absolutely everything, Rodgers is working wonders with him and he's going from strength to strength, he can even shoot now! The first goal was sheer class, not just the strike, the awareness and poise to break in to that pocket of space the bang the ball in.. The second, despite the goal being deflected was even better in my opinion, pure speed and trickery, great use of the space Suarez made for him albeit with a lucky deflection. He won't win YPOTY, but if the voting was done at the end of the season I think he would definitely now be one of the favorites. There is no ceiling for this lad now, I'm excited to see how far he can go. Raheem And stop the ****ing diving
I was critical of Raheem last year and the start of this. He's certainly shut me up! Quality player who has the potential to become of of the best.
First goal glanced of the Norwich players backside just enough to take it away from the keeper, who would have been lucky to keep it out anyway. I don't think you can compare Sterling to Barnes. JB was a lot bigger and had much more physical threat as well as being a fantastic talent. Sterling is a trickier type of player more like Willie Johnson ( now I am showing my age)
Great reference to John Barnes!!! That guy was brilliant. And like John Barnes, Sterling was born in Jamaica!! Let us hope he can continue to develop. Would love to see a black player do really well at the World Cup and who better than Raheem? I suppose my bias comes down to two of the greatest players ever from the distant past - Pele and Eusebio, wonderful footballers, and graceful athletes.
Is Yaya Yaya Toure one as well??? Would love some player to emerge in this World Cup that we have not really heard too much about yet - for instance Raheem may be a big star for Liverpool but not yet on the world stage. I would love someone to eclipse Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta and Xavi (all great players by the way)
Sterling is brilliant. He can become a 20+ goal a season winger/midfielder if he carries on playing the way he is.
Not too long ago Liverpool where interested in (then) freebie Sylvain Marveaux.... right now, I thought I'd let you all know I'd be more than happy to swap him for Raheem Sterling.
Sterling has arguably out performed Sturridge and Suarez since the new year. Remarkable really, would it be a bit too extreme to say he's been the best player in the league since?
He has been excellent indeed. Become a first team regular and runs us out of trouble and battled very hard in defence today. Good man.
I labeled him as "frustrating" earlier in the season... because he was. He obviously had bags of talent- but always failed with the delicate touch and his shots were way off. The frustrating thing was that he was obviously brilliant, but just was always a little sloppy with the end product. He's friggin' brilliant now. Always knew he would be- but I didn't realise he would improve quite this quickly. HE is ahead of schedule in my mind by two or three years.
