It should have been in joined-up writing. Pompey news would have reported about the Alien symbols appearing in the sky.
So so pathetic, I'm embarrassed for you guys that some idiot fan decided to do something so idiotic. I'd have been mortified if a Portsmouth fan had done something like that. And it's funny, you're in the Premier League, we're in League 2 but some of your fans still feel the need to send planes over Fratton Park.... Can you say, inferiority complex? Duuuuuuude, you can rip into us for many things, but seeing as we sold out yesterday (third time this season) and average about 16k in League 2 and have been nowhere near the title or play offs all season, you can't really rip into our attendances!
Not really, it was just a bit of fun and you cannot deny the truth, the hash tag thing was just part of it, the correct one would have been #saintsfc but they wouldn't have sponsored or allowed it, it was just a private venture. Well done on your resurrection, Andy Awful should have been introduced a lot earlier imo, but it really isn't my business is it? You still have a long way to go yet, like us, you just have to believe and support your owners and managers, I was disappointed with the reactions of some of the Blue Phew, (I can understand the frustration), when it wasn't going well, poor losers don't deserve to succeed, the decent fans have won through, lessons learned again, don't blow it this time.
Ahhh, but if I was in your position, I wouldn't need to chant or fly banners over St Mary's. I could sit there feeling smug as I know there there's a massive gulf between Southampton and Portsmouth, I wouldn't need to shout about it, I'd like the tables do the talking (that's assuming I cared, which I doubt I would). By shouting about it, it shows a sort of.... insecurity, speaking from a psychological perspective. In fact, that could be a good topic for a dissertation: the psychology of sporting rivalries. Well to be fair, it depends on the attitude of the fan who commissioned it. It could have been that he just saw it as a bit of banter/a joke... On the other hand, he could be one of those idiots that exist on the both sides of the M27 that spew venom and bile and so on and so forth. Unless someone here knows him or he speaks to the press, we can't really gauge his attitude and motivation. (and I use the term he because 99% of women would be too sensible to waste their money on something like this). Thanks. He should have been, yes. Just think where we would have been. As for the reactions of the Blue Many, I think a lot of fans still supported Guy when he went and as far Barker, he was worst manager I'd ever seen and was seriously deluded. He made Paul Hart (who I also didn't rate) look like Jose friggin' Mourinho. We would have definitely gone down had he stayed so the board made the right decision this time (albeit a terrible decision to appoint him in the first place). Now there's just the question of whether Awford is made permanent manager or not. I'm usually against caretaker managers being made permanent (see Whittingham, Hart, Adams, etc) but none of them (even Hart) galvanized and lifted the teams and the fans quite so much as Awford has. So maybe we could take a punt on him, but I wouldn't want us to repeat the mistakes of the past.... On the otherhand, maybe Awford could be a brilliant manager for us? As long as he has an experienced assistant then who knows....... Who'd own a football club eh?
I agree with what you say however it was only a few years ago when you could reverse what you are saying and it was the blue lot gobbing off and ridiculing at every opportunity. I would guess that some Saints fans see it purely as 'payback' if you like, although paying out for a banner and the flight is way OTT and hints at a bit of an obsessive interest to me. p.s. noticed the attendance yesterday. Cracking support at that level. Kudos.
What we have to remember here guys, is, that Pompey have never mocked us, or made pathetic attempts at lording it over Saints being in a lower division. Oh.
.. and we never dreamed of taking the mick either............ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73j30gJJhS0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D31W7p9PDQc
And don't forget this classic:
Well, the difference being the stuff in those youtube clips was generally things someone could make on their own, on their computers at home, while this banner is a case of someone paying out a couple hundred pounds to hire an airplane to circle around a stadium for...who knows how many minutes. One has to admire the dedication to trolling this attest to, but it's just a complete waste of money and it boggles my mind to think of somebody throwing away their pay on this practically pointless endeavor. So, yeah, I dont take offense to it, I'm not angered by it, I just cant get my head around why somebody would want to do it in the first place.
Someone on SaintsWeb says they know the person who organised it and it involved a group of people all chipping in £10. Just to give some background. I didn't find it that hilarious, either.
I thought it a complete waste of time. There are idiots on both sides still, and if this was a lame attempt at stirring up rivalries, then the contributors would have been better forgetting it and spending their money down the pub.
It upsets me that someone would ruin a good Robbie Williams song in that manner. A fool and his money are easily parted.
Paying good money for a wind up?....how about losing a job?....Wasn't it Portsmouth fans that hid a shirt at Saints training ground and then bragged about it on youtube, even showing where they "buried" it!.....That's what I call foolish and embarrassing.
