Biggest moments that had an effect on the team.... For me , Leon Britton charging in the Arsenal box late and causing a havoc created own goal . Built huge confidence and besides the point , we've won 2 of 4 games since and looked pretty decent in the other 2 . Leon is going to great for us till he can' t walk . Besides a few uncharacteristic give aways today , he bailed our defenders out left and right all day . Well done little man , your legend continues to grow .
Yea, he seems to be getting forward a lot and becoming more influential in our attacking game since Monks take over.
Getting a penalty yesterday to get 3 points not 1 was a season changing moment. But I've got a small memory and can't go back more than 24 hours. You should do some research for the whole season, Breezy, to find specific moments that affected us for better or worse.
Winning at Old Trafford, progressing from the Europa League, despite losing in St. Gallen and Bony scoring from his first Liberty goal from the first penalty kick in 16 months...
I don't think there has been one moment that did anything. It seems to have been a struggle from beginning to end to be honest. Getting a result at the Emirates was great but we got some awful results after that. Sorry to be a grouch but I actually can't wait until we're mathematically safe. I'm on edge every time I watch the team this season.
Mikra - Why do you say that winning at Old Trafford in the FA Cup was a season changing moment? As for the Europa League, that could be a season changing moment because it increased the number of games at a time when we needed to concentrate and focus on maintaining our PL status.
I was referring to what I see as epic moments. Only real season changer was the sacking of Laudrup, and that is off topic on this thread I suppose. What I've mentioned was the, objective, highlights. Maybe even the game where Michu got his ancle-injury would be central... For me personally the 0-0 draw in Malmoe and my trip to Swansea were the highlights. But I do agree: we should wait until avoiding relegation is a certainty...
I actually think one but who knows? Our team never do it easy so no doubt they'll keep us hanging on.
Before yesterday I thought only an Act of God would save Sunderland .... then they got that penalty against Chelsea and I begin to wonder. It's looking pretty positive on our end compared to the likes of Norwich, but momentum is building with Fulham and Cardiff and Sunderland could have a miracle yet. We have been known to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on too many occasions. I don't know if we need another point because of our vastly superior goal difference but who knows what rabbits Fulham, Cardiff and Sunderland will pull out of the hat in the final 3 or 4 matches. Spurs were woeful in the first half against Fulham and Fulham fully deserved to be tied 1-1 at half time. Newcastle were pretty much rank against us. So the clubs with nothing to play for may decide to just mail it in especially against the likes of the bottom three.
Never mind Sunderland , Cardiff and Fulham ...... After today Norwich must get at least 1 win and 2 draws to overtake us from their last 3 games .....Man U , Chelsea away and Arsenal at home ... we are safe! Playing Amat in place of Britton for the last West Ham game was another team altering moment for me , I feel it was the straw that broke Laudrups back.
Yep - you are probably correct. My thinking though is that if we get to 39 pts then with our goal difference, neither Cardiff or Fulham could get above us.
Great win lads two great goals by Bony a much needed 3 points but lets not get carried away, we all know what the swans are like, play well against top half teams then when it comes down to teams in the bottom half they tend to come down to they level lets hope its not the case on sat v Villa and we get the 3pts we need. I'm sure he was injured, or not on the bench. Amat was fielded due to canas injury? Do you remember which match it was in? Maybe Britton was on the pitch even? As I remember it, it was the only option at that point?
Britton started the 2 games before West Ham against Birmingham and Fulham and started the game after against Cardiff . He was on the bench for West Ham too.
