I'll be in the Fratton End too, undecided whether to take my Portsmouth flag/cape thingy. If you see someone wearing a Portsmouth flag as a cape, that'll be me.
This is the very scenario which has vexed the hearts and minds of many fans. How to do it without losing a valuable legend from the club? We have no real footballing ethos and culture as such - we have a massive rebuilding job on our hands, it could take maybe a decade of rebuilding to really get to where we need to be as a club. Listening to the Football Hour the other with Mick Williams (Director) he said that the board were going to have to look 'outside-the-box' for the answer and Alan Knight mentioned a Dario Gradi type of position. I think getting rid of Guy really hurt the board members, after all they are fans first and foremost. I've heard enough to be sure that Andy Awford really wants the chance to manage the team and by consigning him forevermore to the Academy means we could lose him to another club anyway. It wouldn't surprise me to see the board take a completely different approach than other clubs to the management structure, and I don't mean the typical DoF and Manager roles either. Perhaps we'll see that the board "Dares to be Different"!
We're going to do our best. Could be a hairy game though, maybe a sending off or two - they're in a desperate situation. Don't want to see them go down though.
I don't want to see any of the three teams on 47 points to go down. For the last relegation slot (I have nothing against Torquay but it looks like they're down), I'd rather it go to Morecombe or Accrington.
I hope Taylor gets on the scoreshhet today as well. He's doing really well, his confidence has soared and he works hard.
Oh I do I'll be laughing all the way to Christmas Agent Taylor! Him and Shorey to score. 2-0 to Portsmouth!
I could be wrong here, but didn't he apply after Whittingham was sacked? I thought he was one of the applicants along with Claridge, Herman & David James, Connolly, Tisdale and Wilder (as well as some other chap who will now remain nameless). I'd imagine that, if he did apply, he's definitely going to want the job now (and how can we possibly say "no", after what he's achieved in such a short space of time). Like others on here, my concern is that we go through another Whittingham situation if there's a lean spell, with people calling for an experienced manager to replace him. We start the whole process all over again and lose yet another Pompey legend. So I'm torn at the moment. If he wants the job permanently, he has to get it. If he's happy to back to the Academy, then perhaps that's the right thing and we look at bringing in a more experienced League 2 manager. Still, what do I know. I wanted Barker to stay...
Intereting to read in the news today that Awford's been talking to Jim Smith. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/eagle-lends-awfs-an-ear-1-6010920 maybe see if the Bald Eagle's interested in coming out of retirement for a consultant's role should Awfs get the job full time.
Express FM have just said that the Club has officially announced that the stadium's sold out today with not a spare seat in the arena
Little plane spotted flying over Fratton Park - dragging banner saying "Always looking up at us SFC" WTF? Obsessed?
