For me Pellegrini needs this season to feel out what the league's about. They're unbelievable on their day but inconsistant. Mourinho knows exactly what it takes though and I reckon they'll scrape it should Arsenal choke.

I've got Chelsea in my start of season bets so have to stand by it and do willingly. To be up there without really setting the world on fire was a minimum standard for SAF at man u. To grind out results is what champions are made of. To still get the results even when not deserved. All teams have dodgy patches even the best. When Arsenal hit theirs which they most probably will, they need to do what chelsea are doing now.

Imagine Ozil and Ramsey getting injured...

Wouldn't be good, nor if Wilshire get injured. I'd be most worried about their defensive depth if I was them. Always let them down in recent seasons.

Yeah, still happy with my chelsea prediction.

Any team that can score 37 goals in 13 games and only concede 12 is a title contender though surely. When you think of the striking talent they have at their mercy, its scary tbh. They have 3 strikers in Dzeko, Aguero and Negredo who would walk into any of the top 4 in this country and probably top 2 of any European countries teams too and then they have the likes of Silva who can play a forward role too.

Arsenal have Giroud who could; Chelsea no real striker of note that will net 20 goals now and Man Utd possibly Rooney. All 3 City strikers are possible 20+ a season players imo and its goals that win trophies (they already have one of the meanest defences too).

Definitely contenders in terms of the squad at their disposal mate. I just think they can be excused for not doing it this year with having a manager foreign to our game. I rate the chap highly and think they'll get a few more stonking wins under their belt this year but I'm just not sure he knows how to grind out games yet. If not this year though, next year. They will win it again before too long with the squad and infrastructure they've put into place.

Agreed that both Wenger and Mourinho know how to win titles in the EPL so that may give both an advantage in coming months but sometimes, just having the numbers available (and I think City will be the big spenders again in January) is enough to see off troublemakers.

I don't think it will be Utd, it could be Chelsea; I think it might be Arsenal but I'm convinced that it will be City, despite Pellegrinis 'novice' EPL stakes. He has some pretty good history at some very big clubs to fall back on during the run in. Anyone who can amass Real Madrid's highest ever points return in a season knows how to motivate a big team IMO.

No arguments here whatsoever! As it's going it's a cracking title chase with several teams in it. Hopefully there's a bit of drama to come.

I'm still kind of hopeful United will be squeezed out of the top four. I'd find it hilarious but it looks like Tottenham have ****ed that for me.

Would prefer Arsenal to win it purely because of their style of football. I appreciate they have nowhere near the strength of Man C, Chelsea etc but they are doing canny and still have Walcott and Podolski to come back.
If Ozil, Ramsay or Wiltshire were to get injured Cazorla, Flamini and Rosicky, although not as good are a pretty formidable midfield.
Defence could be there weak point but that may well be addressed in January however they attack that much they can afford to be weak in that area.
