I read that we have signed him on hear but it hasn't been made official and I keep hearing about offers coming in for him so what is happening
What's occuring... Tewkes has put up a post that I can't make head nor tail of too... Charlton, are you and Tewkes out on the sherberts together or something... H E L P...
First of all I thought I was in a worse nightmare and supported Swindon! Then I thought we had signed someone that someone else wanted and bid for, but couldn't quite remember who it was ment to be. Modric? Someone bid for him, but don't think we signed him? Have we?
It's Hayes not Haynes... Paul Hayes has 110% signed for us. Don't know why it's not been announced yet but trust me it's a done deal.
I don't really think Modric's brother is called Alan. But we did get Paul Mortimer, the better brother, because his sibling Ernest is a panel beater in Dulwich. So the argument falls flat on that one.
Paul Mortimer... what a player he was on his day...!! It's a shame he lacked an engine and a bit of work rate because he could do anything with the ball at his feet...!! Another one is Peter Garland... He was a wonderful passer of the ball and had a shot that could knock over a brick you know what house. Shame he liked pies too much to ever make it to where he should've got. A pal of mine played with him and Paul Williams a few weeks back in a charity match at The Valley. He said that Williams was a fit as a flea still and that Garland just stood there pulling the string.
Big fat Pete and Morts are two of my favourite playes ever! Carl Leaburns brother was better than him as a kid, but ended up as a BR worker at Lewisham station, David Whytes brother was a bin man, also in Lewisham. We must of signed some other dud brothers in our time? I honestly got excited at the fact we had signed Allen Modric!! Maybe Dave Messi or Rodney Messi, maybe Del Ronaldo!
Carl Leaburns sister would've been a better player ...!! I wasn't one of the many Charlton fans who brought into Leaburn being some sort of god. IMO he was a big lump of absolute uslessness... nothing more, nothing less...!! No coincidence that when he was jogged on things started to turn around for us...
I sit on the Carlo was good side of the fence, remember going mental, in the Joiners Arms in lewisham, when he got 2 for the wombles against Palace! In Curbs i trusted!
Leeeeeeeaaaaaaaburn scored the winning goal against Wimbledon in the first game I saw Charlton win! He turned Eric Young on the edge of the box and volleyed home a cracker, therefore, although I agree he was crap, i have a fondness for him. And according to Wikipedia we made £300,000 out of him when we sold him to the dons, not a bad deal, although i seem to recall that the transfer fee was a bit more than that??? I saw him at the Valley before a midweek game last season and thought "what the hell is Emile Heskey doing here?" Then I realised it was big Carl, he has put on a few pounds since he played for us?
Was that at Sell out Park, last game of the season? Bob Bolder saved a pen? If it was Carlo took a massive wack to the head just before, the physico told him he was Roy of the Rovers as he came round!! Jimmy Hendry another legend!
