@EPLStuff: BREAKING: Luke Shaw's representatives at Stellar Group met Man Utd epresentatives today and discussions were positive. [via @BFairthorne]
Reus was bought as a replacement for Kagawa and is a very good player, he would be a good buy if we use him right.
Wages would be a lot more so the deals would probably work out more expensive over the term of contracts: Coentrao: £150k per week over five years plus £20m fee = £59m Shaw: £80k per week over five years plus £30m fee = £50.8m (guess work for figures for arguments sake) Only one of them will have a high sell on value too. Edit: I thought Coentrao was 27/28 so his sell on fee could be higher than I thought.
Moyes has apparently been over to Portugal again (he's been there a heck of a lot). He was at the Benfica vs Porto match and it's being reported it was to watch Garay, Gaitan and Eliaquim Mangala.
Maybe he should be trying to turn around tge clubs fortunes by being a manager and not a ****ing scout.
True. But he did play centrally for Gladbach sometimes. Doesn't bother Moyes anyway. He just tries panic buys the best players he can and worries about fitting them in later. Who knows he may get lucky with injuries again to force him to play them in their Correct position again. Mata and kagawa wide of Kroos Rooney fellaini and Rvp and let's break the world record for crosses
SAF could afford to go and check on target players because was a good manager! Moyes probably has a Portuguese bit on the side
Mauricio Pochettino on Luke Shaw: "If there is any decision to be made, it is for the owners, not for me." Pochettino: "At the end of the day Shaw is a player that belongs to Southampton, and it will be the club that makes the decision"
Me too Though if we did get Shaw we could theoretically have 3 brightest prospects for Englands back 4 for the next 5-10 years in Jones, Smalling and Shaw
Which club with a desire/expectancy to win things ever considered a players sell on value when making a purchase? If you buy a player it is with the hope he can help your team achieve success over the course of his time with you and therefore earn his transfer fee. The only clubs who buy players with their sell on fee in mind are feeder clubs who buy young talent cheap and develope them with the hope of making a profit to keep the club running.
That's as good a reason as any tbf What worries me more is rumours that he has to study each prospect about a million times before signing them. Maybe thats the reason he's on so many scouting trips. United need to move quickly but also stay under the radar with potential signings.
If you are looking for a left back, why not look at Ashley Cole? He'd be a free transfer and he is better than Shaw and Coentrao.
