define 'flopped'. If a player is sold for the a similar or higher price than they were bought fro, it represents good business regardless of their form on the field.
and the point of that post is to respond to your post. You simply label anyone a 'flop' having very little evidence for it.

What dross gets to the CL semis? Would you say Manuel Neuer was rubbish because his Schalke team were poor against Man U?

Wakka is definitely full of delusions of grandeur something some people accuse Man United fans of.

Wakka you've come out with a few beauties already mate!

'a goalkeeper isn't going to make a massive difference'- a goalkeeper is massively important, especially at the top levels. Arsenal's defence crisis of the last couple of years has stemmed from their lack of a quality goalkeeper. Utd's title this season was built from Van Der Sar upwards. When was the last time a team won the league without a top goalkeeper? Because i can think of plenty of times when teams have failed to compete for the league with a sub-standard keeper. Also with regards Gomez he clearly is an incredible shot-stopper, Comolli's mistake is not realising he didn't have the concentration for the big time.

Also i don't know where you have gotten the idea we have played players besides form. Benitez is one of the quickest managers to sell on players he didn't think were good transfers. I mean come on! He shipped out Robbie Keane after half a season! Hodgson doesn't register in this as he does ot qualify as a Liverpool manager. As for Dalglish, well he dropped himself from the team back when he was player manager, so the guy knows how to make strong decisions for the team.

English football struggles with the idea that people can share responsibilities without egos destroying the whole thing. Surely any club that has a man like Comolli, with a specialist scouting and buying background, will benefit if roles etc are clearly defined. Do John Henry and the other guys honestly come across as guys who struggle with getting the right guys in place? Kenny is not the dinosaur people will try to make him out to be (because of his age) and i have seen absolutely no indication of a rift between Dalglish and Comolli, all i've seen is some serious transfer work getting done- Suarez for a knock down price, Carroll sorted in the space of 24 hours, and a ridiculous fee for Torres to name some key points.

comoli has a repuatation for wasting money. of all the players we could of bid for for £20 million. young, hazard, mata, chamberlian + wickham, arda turan, etc we decide to spend it on an unproven youngster who plays bad more than he plays well.

lets hope we have a decent transfer budget this summer or else we could find ourselves with a worse squad than last year

    out
    maxi

    in
    henderson

so far i would say we are a worse team especailly since maxi was first team and henderson isnt better than mereles or gerrard and the players we are linked with dont give me much hope. i know not being in the top 4 makes it harder for us to attract the better players but whilst we are spending big on average players man utd are getting players like A young, man city look set to be getting sanchez while chelsea hope for modric, i fear the gap between the top 5 and the rest of us is only going to get bigger.

comoli needs to go and kenny needs to be 100% in control of our transfers, i really can't see kenny wanting to spend that kind of money on henderson who isnt even good enough to get into our first team.[/QUOTE]

How does Maxi (possibly) leaving weaken us.Sure he had a purple patch towards end of season but what were your thoughts on him before that...little more than an aging squad player. Now I don't know how Henderson will do for us but at the very least I am willing to give him time before writing him off.He has premier league experience and when played in the right position should be a great signing fir us but only time will tell but he was the inspiration for Sunderlands early season form last year.
Your comparison to signing other players for the same money is also ridiculous..Wickham/Chamberlain 20 mill? no prem experience.
Just have faith in kenny and camolli and see who else we sign and where we are at xmas...I guarantee weposition than last year at the same time. will be in a damn sight better

sunderland fan coming with a headsup...last season jordan was frustrating. he'd be brilliant one minute, diabolical the next. a lot of fans (especially where i was sat in the SoL) used him as a scapegoat, especially after the england-france game (which he wasn't ready for) as his form dropped dramatically and he struggled at times to put a pass in the right place, and often looked unwilling to make a tackle. he also looked tired mid-december onwards. he was a lot better after he was dropped at the start of april, but still. personally i think we've fleeced you for whatever the fee was, but if kenny was willing to pay it then good look to you. i don't think he's a long way away from being great, and i think he's in the right place to progress (realistically, there's only so far he was going to advance with us) but you might need the patience of saints to start with. i look on with avid interest

Thanks for that honest opinion. There's been far too much hot air spoken about the lad since his move. I agree with you that he's far from being the finished article and like for all young British palyers the price is extreeme. But it is an investment and only time will tell if it has been a good one or a bad one.

Hope you have a better season than the last one<ok>

as long as he works hard, we will be patient with him- just look at lucas now, probably our player of the season. hopefully kenny is assembling a team where everyone knows and understands each other where one individual poor performance from one player doesn't affect the overall strength of the team.
