After the thrills and excitement of a win at Wembley, Hull City are back in Barclays Premier League action against Arsenal at the KC Stadium on Sunday (KO 2.05pm) on a day when we will be remembering the life of club legend Andy Davidson, who sadly passed away at the age of 81 last week.

Davidson made a club record 579 appearances for the Tigers during the 1950s and 60s and was a huge favourite of fans of that era, with stories handed down of the Scottish defender’s combative and tenacious style of play to the generations not old enough to have seen him in action.

‘Jock’, as he was affectionately known, was also on the club’s coaching staff during a career at Boothferry Park which spanned more than 30 years.

Sunday’s game against the Gunners will see the Club honour Davidson. Following consultation with his family, a minute’s silence will take place ahead of kick-off with the players wearing black armbands in memory. Members of the Davidson family will join the players on the pitch during the silence.

An iconic image of Davidson will also feature on the cover of our Official Matchday Programme which will hold a piece reflecting on his significant contribution to the history of the football club.

We ask you all to join us in remembering a true club legend on Sunday.

Can we actually have a moment of silence this time instead of clapping?

Agreed. Really wound me up on Sunday and seems to spread from one or two morons not paying attention. Where I was sat everyone stayed silent, but you could hear plenty of the stadium clapping along. I'm not particularly pro/anti minutes applauses (lean towards anti) but whatever is decided by the families in the event of a bereavement should be respected.

Remember very early in the season before a home game Robbie Brady started the applause when it was supposed to be a silence.

These are the types of situations where a minutes applause is more acceptable. It should be a silence, but applauding at Wembley for the Hillsborough disaster was just shameful, a proper disgrace. Although there were plenty of muppets all round the stadium acting like pissed up Neanderthals and causing an audible scene so at least the clapping covered over that and could be why it started in the first place.

There were too many pissed-up idiots from both clubs on Sunday to have a minutes silence.

Clapping is the accepted default alternative when that's the case.

After the minutes silence, instead of the ridiculous 'We say no Allams.....' chant can we have just one thunderous 'Only One Andy Davidson' ?

I'll give you 1/100. And 1/50 that it starts in the first 3 seconds once the referee begins the silence. You can turn them into a double if you want.

    Think the unwritten rule is:

    - long life well lived = applause
    - tragic sudden death, life cut short= silence

Didn't work on Sunday then did it? What was Hillsborough if not 96 sudden lives suddenly cut short? Also the club have asked for a minute of silence for Andy Davidson so hopefully we will do that - even though he had a long and well lived life.

As stated above by numerous folk it didn't work

A silence was requested and respected impeccably at many grounds.

Unfortunately it just needs a few drunken turds clapping and the clapping seals follow regardless.

Clapping seals, you're bang on there. There are definitely clapping seals. As I understand, these clapping seals believe their whole justification for spending the money to attend games is to contribute to atmosphere, which they will do by their practised method of clapping. Think STEVE BRUCE CLAP CLAP.

Whether the clapping is during a minutes silence, part of a chant, to celebrate a goal or when some huge blanket warmer says hello to the stand you're sitting in, these clapping seals feel obliged to do their bit and clap, and feel rightly proud at a good days work.

A small amount of study into clapping seals reveals that these are not a pure breed of fan, but rather a hybrid of all, showing heavy amounts of armchair and flasker genes, with a small garnishing of plastic genes and a sprinkling of proper supporter. Clapping seals are a bastardisation that it is believed evolved naturally from the effects of mixing all those different types of fan in the stands of soulless modern stadia.

So there you have it, genuine study that concludes the club is far better preserving it's fan base by allocating separate supporter sections. Get it done club.
