Surely in that most secular of countries there is no one left who remembers the words! Maybe the 94 year old who was there today, he, might have gone to church in his younger days!

Great game and super second half comeback. I was definitely worried at half time. But like the rest of you now basking in it!

Would love to go to the final but such a long way to go from this side of the pond.

The hymn is a prayer for God to remain present with the speaker throughout life, through trials, and through death. The opening line alludes to Luke 24:29, "Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent":

Always thought the first verse would be a great song for us to sing With our history of sad losses at see?

 

I'm looking forward to singing this. Never before have I been so looking forward to singing a hymn

 

For at least 10 years, Abide With Me has been messed about with by the ****s at the FA in an attempt to ''sex it up'' for a world-wide audience; note to FA - Abide With Me doesn't need a stick-insect opera singer/boyband/fat ****ing tenor or any other such bollox, give the fans a brass band, words on the big screen for those who can't memorise it and leave it at that .............. rant over !

Agreed, obviously Ian Moore isn't included in that.

Mooro has,in fact, been approached to sing at the final allegedly, remember where you heard it first.
