I thought there was a clause. How many assists has Livermore this season

"Steve Bruce wants to sign on-loan Spurs midfielder permanently but faces competition from Sam Allardyce and Mark Hughes

Steve Bruce is facing a fight with big pal Sam Allardyce and former Manchester United team-mate Mark Hughes to land Jake Livermore this summer.

Hull boss Bruce has made Livermore his priority signing after the midfielder's crucial contribution in helping the Tigers hang on to their Premier League place and reach the FA Cup Final in his season-long loan from Tottenham.

Bruce has already been told he can have the £6million it will take to prise Livermore, 24, out of White Hart Lane - but West Ham and Stoke are joining the chase for his signature.

Hammers boss Allardyce and Potters chief Hughes are both looking to strengthen in midfield, and they are targeting Livermore after his impressive campaign on Humberside.

Tim Sherwood has also noted Livermore's form, and was planning to offer him a new deal with the North London outfit.

But Sherwood's imminent axing as head coach has put a fresh question mark over the England international's Spurs future.

Livermore has already indicated he would be happy to seal a permanent switch to the KC Stadium, but he admits:"I haven't got a clue what's going to happen in the summer.

"I don't know anything but, as long as I am playing next season, I'll be happy.

"It's great at Hull, and I have really enjoyed my time here. I came to play regular first-team football after a terrible season at Tottenham, where I was in and out of the team for various reasons.

"It has been a fresh start for me and a breath of fresh air for someone like Steve Bruce to have a bit of faith in me and say 'just go out and play' every week.

"It has been a pleasure to play here - and enjoyment is a massive part of football." "

I can't see Stoke and West Ham being too much competition.

Jake definitely wants to sign. The only issue is whether we can agree a fee with Tottenham. The article is bollocks.

Obviously other teams will be interested. He's a good player.

I'm sure his agent would happily fuel these stories, but I'd like to think Jake will do the right thing.

Hope Sherwood does get the axe..wasnt it he who was rumoured to be interested in Davis?..can see the boss there letting Livermore go for about 3.5mill and looking at so called bigger names for a new defender..esp if foreign

So what happened with this apparent £3.5m agreed fee at the end of the season? We've essentially stayed up, they can't now waiver that agreement if it's in Jakes loan contract! Or was the agreed fee somebody just talking bollocks?

I suspect it was bollocks all along.

I'm pretty sure that Jake himself has said there's a clause in place, but I get the impression the fee is much higher than it was initially reported.

I also seem to recollect that a fee had been agreed and was quoted at the time around £3.25m? That being the case then I can only assume that some 'add-on's' exist which are pushing up the fee.

I'm reasonably confident that if a fee can be agreed then Jake would sign for City, it not goodbye and i'm sure Brucey has other options up his sleeve; Muntari etc?

I agree with others, this is just fuelled by agents or maybe even Spurs themselves to get the best fee for him.

with the number of mid-field player's we are being linked with there maybe some truth in the story ,a story in the press at the beginning of April, stated the spur's wanted 8mil,i like jake but not at that price ,hence I think bruce is getting a plan b in place.

I can't see them charging more for Jake than they did for Tom.

Even if the figure is inflated we should pay it, I'd rather pay over the odds on a proven player that fits in with the team/club/manager than take a punt on someone else because their a couple of million cheaper.

    If the fee's over £5m, I don't think we'll be signing him.

Yeah I suspect your right, it would be a real shame to miss out on signing him though.

He's a dam good midfielder but shouldn't be worth more than Hudds as Hudds has that little extra special talent
