It really grinds my nozzle when i read about the coo and awe over another Banksy piece of . . .. Guerilla Art .
First off the term Guerilla Art stinks of Home counties Daily Mail bollocks , then the very idea that what he does is , in anyway remarkable .

This guy maybe didnt ask for the adulation but its as if he is the next Jesus Christ for the right on masses .
i used to risk arrest and worse in the mid 80s spraying graffiti around west Hull , railway sidings , the tunnel at Park Street etc etc and wish i thought of using stencils .

If someone was to scrawl over a Banksy piece is it in itself considered as vandalism ?

Yeah you should have used stencils WhittlingStick , imagine how famous you would have been

I think Blek le Rat was doing it long before Banksy though

Banksy art is fantastic. The fact he is still anonymous is also intriguing. Are you Banksy?

there's a semi interesting documentary on 4OD called graffiti wars which is about a feud between Banksy and an old school graffiti tagger called King Robbo. Well worth a watch if you've a spare hour

Banksy is just a copy cat. He has just copied Blek le rat. He even says himself everytime he does a piece he finds le rat did it 20 years before. He has very little credibilty in the world of graffiti. He has however made a lot of money out of it.

It's a post modern joke on the idea that one man spray painting a stencil on a wall is creating expensive 'art' , while if you did it it would be worthless and you might get arrested

Banksy is to Graffiti art as Diversity is to Breakdancing .

Its not him or his work im having a go at , its the crazed media frenzy and the so called cool kids who elevate his importance in aerosol artistry

I have an appreciation of street art, my particular local favourites were,

Totty's Mob Never Run - BP railway bridge
CITY AGRO - Boothferry Road sportsfield opposite Darley's
HULL CITY - YOU'RE LIVES IN OUR HANDS - A63 bridge on Ferriby By-Pass

I agree, his success is driven by the media and not his originality or talent, however the same can be said for many artists/musicians/actors...etc.

Fair play to the guy he's making a great living from it.
