I agree with you Dai. Although I loved our time in the Championship it's the Prem where the better teams play. Even if you set aside salaries and deal with football issues, I'm sure if you ask players where they'd rather be - Old Trafford or the Keepmoat I know what the answer will be.

It's not perfect by a long way and things need to change like the bias shown to the bigger clubs and the crowding of the ref to influence a sending off but its the top league in our country and its where every club in the land wants to be, Even the scots would love to be able to play here if they could. Its about time that the Scottish teams were allowed to join the football league imo.

Why ? with the exception of perhaps 4 teams what value would that bring , theres already pyramid system in place which works and starts at grass root level so where would the Scottish clubs fit in , bearing in mind their standard is lower overall so they could be semi professional ,you'd be adding additional costs to a club just in terms of travelling .overnight accommodation etc .Non starter really imo

"It's about time that the Scottish teams were allowed to join the football league".

What about the teams who play in the Welsh and Irish Leagues? You want them in as well?

Have to say rugby could teach football a lot in respect of refereeing.
PL referees have been weak for years and I have to wonder why?

They weren't part of setting up the football league.
And where would you stop? Top French, and Belgian teams would be closer to London than Scottish clubs.
Time for a European League? But then how many PL teams would get in?

Obviously only the established premier teams, I don't mean every Scottish team. we are allowed so why not the Scots. there is no welsh team good enough for div 2 but most of the premier Scottish clubs could easily slot into the lower league somewhere with the obvious celtic, rangers allowed to join the premiership. I don't have a problem with that as it would be interesting.

The 'Respect' principle that's been running for some time is a joke. In my view referees should instantly red card any player who swears at him or the linesmen/women. Also, if a player makes a gesture with his hands as if he's waving a card and this is done with a view to getting another player carded he should be yellow carded himself. That would soon stop the nonsense.

It's important because youngsters are copying this behaviour on every weekend up and down the country.

Totally agree, all bring the game in to disrepute. If a player who dives can be booked but how often does that happen?
But, when ref could take a free kick forward 10 years if players showed dissent, didn't retreat 't stopped the ball being played quickly they didn't apply it consistently and I never saw the league's 'bigger' teams penalised with this sanction.

No,I was merely responding in kind to your blanket "Scottish teams",some of whom play in front of two men and their dogs.

Because ourselves, Cardiff, Newport, Wrexham and Merthyr were invited to join the football league in it's formative years as there was no Welsh league. Adding the Scots would be a completely different kettle of fish and would be 100 years too late and cause massive problems with the existing league structure.

Aberdare Athletic also appeared in the old Third Division(South),back in the 1920's.

In season 1921-22 they finished above Swansea,Newport and Merthyr in that Division.dropping out of the League after six seasons.

    A couple of questions
    What miracles has Monk performed
who are you ? are you famous
,if all in the garden is rosy than could you explain why since Monk has taken over we've seen less and less of some of the Spanish players ,namely Poz, Canas ,Michu ,Vazquez , something is not right behind the scenes, to see on the bench yesterday a player from Falkirk who's never played at this level named as a sub and if necessary come on against one of the countries richest clubs , the only one named injured is Michu ? so we're now reliant on players from the Championship and a kid from the Scottish Div 1 to get us out of the mess we find ourselves in ,I understand that managers have their favourites ( Lita ? ) but if Flores hadn't been sent off we may have had to use Fulton , why when we have a fully fit Canas , Poz or Vaquez available for selection.
Is the newly promoted Director of Football now picking the team or at least having a big influence on it's selection?

I'm prepared to be shot down but hi ho .

No idea why we signed Ngog when he's never performed at this level.

You have to wonder if Garry Monk is trying to make his mark with team selection.

So far Garry, you've missed the mark....
