Possibly the most popular Toon manager since SBR. I'd question whether he has got the raw talent to be really successful, but as I recall he was better at blooding the youngsters than the current leadership.

I'm a big fan of managerial stability - and hence until very recently have been a backer of AP. But these last few thrashings have been hard to take: A manager who is unable to motivate his players, and unwilling to drop the non-performers in favour of blooding some of the youth team, is actively damaging to the club.

I'm still undecided. I think the reason why managers like SAF have been so successful is that the players know they are less important to the club. When your managerial turnover is faster than your playing staff, immature, unhappy players know that they can actively sabotage the leadership and get what they want. So sacking Pardew would not necessarily improve the club discipline.

However, the players respect Chris. I don't think he did a bad job at Norwich at all - and he built the happiest, most united Newcastle team that we've seen in recent years. Lord knows if he'd come back to work for Fat Ashley. I wouldn't, in his place - but if MA tacitly admitted a mistake by reappointing him in might pour oil on those troubled waters.

Right now, I'd say keep Pardew until Christmas - for all the bad results, he's not actually failed us yet. But if he went today, CH is the only manager available that I'd be happy to see replace him.

No. Respect him and what he did here under difficult circumstances. However I've watched better football from Pardews teams and he is no genius. I want some excitement from the next manager. An attacking manager who has a more modern style than Hughton and Pardew.

Totally agree with this DMW. CH did a brilliant job for us but his teams aren't exactly attack minded.

I also agree with the OP. It's no secret I'm a defender of managerial stability, but AP has been given time and my patience is wearing thin with the football we're playing at the minute. That said, I also think he's been undermined by poor management above him and very poor transfer re-investment by the club. I'd like to see him given a crack of the whip after a proper transfer window of building a team, but I accept the fact that he is unlikely to be given proper support in transfer dealings and also that patience has gone with a majority of fans.

I wouldn't be sorry to see him replaced by a proven successful manager who's teams play attractive football. What I wouldn't like to see is AP replaced with mediocrity as all that would do is prove that AP was an average manager rather than a bad one. We'd be no better off.

On a side note. Seven Premier League teams have changed their manager this season and 13 have not. The 13 who haven't occupy the top 13 positions in the league. Says it all for me.

Got to be No from me.

CH will always be remembered as being the manager that got us promoted and it should be left that way.
But, he had limitations when he was sacked and still does now, so I see no reason to consider taking him back at any time.

He was sacked at Norwich for a reason and it wasn't for his team playing good football.

You mean a Coach with a little more philosophy, me too. I would give a go to Leonardo.

I beg to f**king differ. We've seen great football under Pardew??! DMW smokes crack. We beat the Mackems 5 f**king 1, and never looked like losing one to them under Chris.

    Soak that information up <ok>

You smoke big fat cock and sink too much ketamine. Chris did manage a couple of great results and we did play well against the mackems and had better togetherness (partly due to make up of the squad mind). Otherwise though we were **** to watch, plus his subs and delay in using them was the work of a ******ed porcupine <ok>

He should never have been sacked in the first place.

We will never know if Chris Hughton could have been a success in the Premier League with Newcastle United, he wasn't given the chance or the backing even though he won the Championship (Ashley wouldn't cough up for a parade) and launched the career of Andy Carroll.

I would hope he'd have the sense to stay away from Newcastle United whilst Jabba-the-Hutt is still slithering around as the owner :emoticon-0121-angry

No. He was decent and was right for NUFC at the time but really, has he marked himself out as an outstanding manager? Do you see him masterminding top 5 finishes and a few trophies? I don't.

No - he suffered enough the first time round. He's done his stint.

If we get a new owner, that's a different matter.
