I agree with most of the comments here on Sousa but I think Jenkins isn't the type to let bygones be bygones.

Ivoralljack's comments about Jenkins controlling Monk is perfectly valid. Jenkins does have a recent history of either losing managers to bigger clubs or just falling out with them. He needs to realise that's the way it is for most chairmen. We can only hope that he sees Monk as a stopgap and a possible future manager but I fear the worst.

You agree with everything you say? <laugh>

Not sure if there is a wrong or right on Sousa and it's a matter of opinion but the facts don't lie. We had a poor front line in those days and he still got us to our best position in the League for over 27 years. He's also done well overseas since then and no doubt learned a lot.

Not sure if he's the answer at all but I think he'd be better than what we have right now.

    Just my opinion.

Sousa was an arrogant hot head, the time he pushed Monk for shaking the refs hand after a game , after a perceived bad call during the game showed me a lot . And like I said in a previous post , the disrespect toward Britton, then toward Jenkins after the season , Sousa is the only person affiliated with the Swans I despise since being a Swan fan . You guys like him and respect him all you want , enjoy !

Wasn't he just Vetch! I think it was predominantly Norway, Samletjack, and myself fighting for Sousa on the old BBC606, I remember getting so frustrated that I put up a thread entitled the 'Jenkins Sycophants', just to wind up the Sousa out brigade! And it worked a treat...........<laugh>

PS: Just for the record, Vital did an on-line pole of the Jack Army, the results of which 52% wanted Sousa to stay while 48% wanted him gone, not that it mattered to Jenkins, as he had his own plans for Sousa. Trouble with Huw Jenkins is, that he struggles to manager the high profile managers, and clearly Huw has got an inferiority complex he needs to sort out, as his small man syndrome is holding us back!............<ok>

Thanks for that cartoon, sounds like the players have faith in Monks ability there.

Would you expect anything anything else? It is only in very exceptional circumstances that players will openly criticise a manager and quite rightly too. Public disloyalty could destroy a player's career.

If you are referring to the Scunthorpe match, which I was at, then I don't understand why anybody would want to shake that prick of a ref's hand. He was an abomination. We finished the game with 9 men and the 9th man was injured but forced by the ref to return to the field and play on so that the ref wouldn't have to abandon the game or whatever the rule was. Scunthorpe were a bunch of thugs. The ref was a biased, blind prick. When that happens you just ignore the ref and walk away you don't shake his hand - that's for honorable people.

I don't know exactly what the issue was between Monk and Sousa on that day, it might have been about something else, but if it was that then I side with Sousa.

I was at that game too Yankee Jack. You are right. In all the years I've been watching football that remains the worst performance I've ever seen by a referee. Sousa was right to stop his players shaking the prat's hand. I'd have been telling them to deck him. <laugh>

Sousa was absolutely right. Don't know what Monk was thinking of at the time. I was at the game and can't remember ever having been so incensed. Didn't Dobbie get injured and miss a lot of games? Probably impacted on our play off chances.

Thats right , you don't know what Monk was thinking at the time. Condoning the manager , as a group ,running on to the pitch and pushing his captain in any situation is ......Sousalizm

You are too generous- we were 7 and it should have been six.
A fantastic performance from our men as none of the sendings off were deserved. We had been kicked all over the pitch and almost the first foul we committed led to booking.
Having sent him off for an innocuous challenge followed by the most inept performance I have ever seen (including Sunday league) I can only imagine Monk was being ironic.
"I never wanted the match abandoned but Idrizaj should not have gone back on the field but as we were then down to only six players the referee put pressure on us to get him back on."
    Swansea City manager Paulo Sousa.

Dobbie was elbowed in the ribs quite viciously and missed a shedload of games. Our players were booted from one end of the pitch to the other yet some seem to want to criticise our then manager? <laugh>

Sorry but you have to <laugh> or you'll <cry>

Maybe Monk was shaking the refs hand with a sarcastic comment in tow, who knows . What Sousa did to Monk had dick to do with the game itself, but condone all you want .

Making one mistake doesn't make him a bad manager, so what you're saying is irrelevant.
