I think the aim is for him to get another couple of games under his belt with the development squad, then he'll be back in contention, judging by the article.
Which is a shame really as the Benno at RB would only really be a good idea against fulham, and as its away I'm not even sure then, probably better saved for next season.
When I had my meet with Russell, we went in the changing rooms where there was a white board with a team on it. Russell wasn't in the team so he crossed out Bassong and said that's where he'll be playing next season. Felt like an appropriate anicdote. Not saying he'll be replacing Bassong, just that he wants to move to CB.
No, the lack of any form of comment from the team captain could be perfectly innocent. Bearing in mind that he described Hughton as like a father to him only a couple of months ago and the only reason he joined Norwich, I'd be very surprised if Bassong was entirely happy with the situation.
Back again after a few months away. The pivotal moment this season was vs. Stoke. Bassong being a complete moron gave away a needless penalty and we dropped two points. Say what you will but points on the board instill confidence. That draw sucked us into a relegation dogfight ever since and would have given vital confidence for the Southampton, Swansea and West Brom games. Personally I would strip Bassong of the Captain's armband and hand it to Snodgrass (popular with fans and inspirational). He gives everything for us and was obviously a well respected Captain at Leeds. Fact is that things couldn't have got worse; changes in manager provide 1) motivation for all players to prove themselves (both XI and why other clubs should buy them), 2) fans will be fully behind the new manager, 3) it breaks the viscious cycle of negativity at Carrow Road (Tactics, Hootun-Out chants and perhaps a new style will yield results - certainly RvW cannot wait I'm sure. Why on earth would anyone want to buy a £8.5m flop who has scored a single goal all season back in August. If he is advertising himself on shop window, it is now or never, especially if he wants to go to the WC) Russell Martin is a good CB when he plays there, bring in Whittaker and freshen things up One more point is Wes...now that the manager has gone, perhaps he will rethink his wish to move away?
""It's gone very well, really pleased with how things have gone," said Adams. "The players' attitudes have been fantastic, they're really buying into what we're trying to get out there and what we're trying to do with the team." Evidence that the switch has paid off?
Being cynical...the players always have fantastic attitudes when a new manager comes in...it's if they're still doing it 3 or 4 games in that will be telling.
And we were also told there was nothing wrong with their attitudes before CH left! I think we might want to wait until at least 3pm on Saturday before we start talking about evidence that the switch has paid off.
It depends what you mean. Hughton doesn't put a foot wrong with the media. He is very professional. At the same time the media, as we have seen this week, absolutely love him. So suggesting he is poor with the media needs a bit of qualification IMO. I'm guessing you mean that his control in front of the media doesn't really let the fans see the passion that they want to see?
My number one concern with Russell at centre back is he has had some shocking moments marking people and falling asleep on set pieces which has lead to more then a couple of goals, quality wise his definitely improved this as the season's progressed.
You don't have to show passion to be charismatic or entertaining. Hughton came across to me as a bland character, whilst he was no cliche when he spoke he never said anything which made you think or believe he had a concept to believe in. He never seemed to talk mid to long term, progression, styles of play. It was all very basic stuff when he spoke. He never analysed the opposition, just spoke of their quality blah, blah, blah. I was sceptical of the timing, but inside I am so glad this awful so called football man has gone.
I always thought that Hughton seemed pretty awkward in front of the cameras and he never said anything particularly different or meaningful. As carrabuh said he was pretty dull. Adams has said more about tactics and playing philosophy as well as talking more engagingly. I think this is clearly due to the time Adams spent on the radio. I'm pretty sure that the media reaction to Hughton is more due to his personal relationship with several ex players and journos. He is a genuinely nice man and I can see why people are sticking up for him.
Fair enough. I agree he wasn't particularly charismatic of entertaining. I guess I didn't need him to be. We'll wait to see if Neil Adams ticks those boxes. Or maybe we can get Mike Bassett back
BBC reckon both Turner and Fer are fit, and Bassong is fit enough, but carrying an injury. Annoyingly, Parker, Karagounis and Burn are all fit for Fulham.
