    Shepherd was on Talk Sport last year and he said during his time at the club we played more than 80 games in European competitions. Shame he nearly bankrupted the club though.

    If he was to come back, who's to say he wouldn't have learned from his first tenure and make the same mistakes.

    For all his faults, no one can deny that he gave us one rollercoaster of a ride, and the best NUFC team I have seen in my lifetime.
    The only time since the 1920's where we have sat the top table of English football.
    He was no worse than John Hall for taking money out of the club, but somehow, Hall still has a stand named after him and doesn't get the same s*** that FFS gets.

    Actually, I would have him back and take my chances again, rather than have the life sucked out the club by MA, with no ambition, and being used as a vehicle for spreading the Sports Direct gospel. <ok>

    He disposed of Sir Bobby and hired Graeme Souness and Glenn Roeder as manager... he paid £18m for Michael Owen, £8.5m for Jean-Alain Boumsong, £10.5m for Albert Luque...

    Freddy Shepherd has as much business in Football as Mike Ashley or my mother does.

    Ashley will sell us as soon s he can get his money back and will leave us in decent financial nick. FFS would hold onto us as long as he could suck money out of us and would leave on the verge of bankruptcy, at which point we might not find another person willing to buy us without checking the books. I'll endure Ashlye until someone better than FFS comes along

    All hypothetical anyway.

    Shepherd doesn't have the money and I can't see him heading back like a 'Knight in Shining Armour' to the rescue, unless he was a minor player in a consortium and even then, I couldn't see them installing him as the figurehead.

    We're stuck with Ashley and him with us for the foreseeable, for better or worse, and we just have to get on with it.
