We did very well over the last 2 legs, people expected the tie to be over at Old Trafford but it didn't. We've performed well in both games too, also, we've done well than Barcelona did against Bayern as well
Pep got his tactics wrong. As soon as he brought Rafinha on and moved Lahm into midfield and pushed Muller up, Bayern dominated. His midfield trio of Kroos, Gotze and Muller were not working and the full backs were not getting up to support RAR
United competed in the first half - kept a clean sheet. The 2nd half as expected was fairly frantic with United having some of the game. In fact the score line of 3-1 is less emphatic than most papers assume. At 2-1 United was within a goal of going through. To be honest, this CL campaign was not bad and could have been compared with some **** recent ones with Fergie. Going out to the current champions was no disgrace and they certainly were on edge until the last few minutes of the tie. It is the OT matches in the premiership that Moyes let himself down. I cannot believe United lost or drew so many matches against teams that in the past would have beaten easily. Next season, he has to sort that out. The away form is not that bad. We need several top quality players who can make the difference. We need lots of cash and the idea that top players will not come because of no CL is nonsense. Top players follow the money if it is high enough.
United did Ok but showed a lack of ambition in the first half given they had to score. Rooney once again disappeared when needed most. However United certainly weren't disgraced against one of the best sides around so Moyes would probably have taken that at the start.
Moyes cost us the game with his insane subs. pep changed things when he needed to, took a risk and it paid off. Moyes didnt. He took Welbeck off when Rooney should have gone FFS. Januzaj came on with no time left. Why the **** did he come on? What a ridiculous substitution! I maintain we should have won, we should have bee out of sight after the first leg and for me, Bayern are nothing special. Moyes cost us the game with his decisions in the second half. No 2 ways about it.
Even if they (i.e rival fans or pundits) thought that, United as a team and Moyes as a manager should have backed themselves to do the job. Porto, Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter were all un-fancied sides that have won it in the last 10 years. I just don't feel United ever believed they would win and it was almost damage limitation from the start.
Totally agree with this comment, we made Bayern look far better than they are and with a couple of decent strikers up front, would have easily have beaten them home and away
