Good on you Curtis. Interesting point that was mentioned. A lot seem to be implying that success would negate the purpose of changing names... and that winning the FA cup would have far more use than changing names. So how have Wigan done since winning the cup? or Swansea? doubt it has done that much to their global appeal. I think it's a silly argument to put forward and shows the lack of answers and solutions brought by the No camp. Name change is not a solution but I wish more effort had been putting in finding an alternative rather than just veto the change.
Name-change has nothing to do with progress. Haven't you realised that by now? AA is determined it will go ahead as that is his primary aim (see HCC/AA history). And everything is hostage to that sole aim; everything is of lesser value by comparison. I seriously believe he's mentally unfit now.
Like putting in a bit of effort to make a decent fist of a business plan. 1 whole year and nothing on that front. No wonder nobody believed the name change would achieve anything. And Wigan aren't doing too badly. The playing staff shouldn't be involved in this. It's between the fans and the owner.
I'm not talking about progress but financial stability. Or are you implying that AA has made up the idea that we may struggle to be self-sustainable. I think we all agree that we need to find ways to bring in more money. Now the FA's hammer is down, there has been no progress on that end. When I disagree with someone I tend to try and offer a compromise or a solution that would suit both parties.
I agree although that would imply that you know everything that goes on in the backroom or AA's head. It may have made more sense from your point of view for AA to put his plan out (if he has one) in the open to back his name change proposal and convince fans but I can see why he'd want to keep his cards up his sleeve also. He's the kind of man who probably wasn't expecting to have to justify any of his ideas.
The name change is about the council dispute. There have been so many arguments/experts concluding that it would not be beneficial in terms of our fan base. I really can't believe you think a name change would raise our profile more than winning the FA cup and playing in Europe.
How about this for a solution, stop distracting attention from the club and splitting fans apart. Use the energy instead on filling our relatively small stadium and selling out our allocations. Imagine how many more sales we could have for Wembley if not for this ridiculous debate.
I never said that though... I'm saying that using " let's win the cup and we won't need to change our name" is simply not a viable argument or solution.
He's certainly not helping. He's pissed off half his customers and we haven't run a single advert anywhere to try and sell tickets.
It's probably because the designer of the last club poster was fired for coming up with that cringeworthy piss take.
But going to Wembley to watch the team should have nothing to do with AA. His name shouldn't even be uttered and all focus should be on a good day out. If any aren't going as a sign of rebellion then I'm not sure it makes much sense. However, the second comment is more worrying.
He's not helping. The whole thing has acted as a real distraction and he is the one who is there in the press whinging because he couldn't get his own way.
