Grunge isn't my favourite music either, but i don't mind the odd band/ song. When i was growing up and Nirvana songs were the first most kids learnt to play on guitar.
Teenage Spirit was the riff I learnt. It's a bit like punk. Where it's more about the energy then technical skill.
He did not join Foo Fighters for obvious reasons. Sio he went and formed his own band Sweet 75 in 1995. He did perform some backing vocals on Foo Fighters song "Walking the Line" which was a tribute to Cobain. He has directed a low budget film. He has also been in bands Eyes Adrift, Flipper, She Cries Mary and Aya. He also joined Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thapill in a band called No WTO Combo. So kept himself busy.
At school, everyone loved Nirvana. I thought they were ok, but over-hyped. I find myself enjoying them much more now than back then. I liked grunge, Soundgarden being my favourite by far. The late 80s, early 90s grunge and alternative rock stuff was great. Alice In Chains, Mudhoney, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth etc etc. And of course, the greatest band of all time, the Pixies. I'm not sure about a hologram thing though. It's a bit weird.
Says the person with the Pixies as their avatar... Only joking. Pixies are class, better than Nirvana for me.
I'm busy tiling the kitchen at the moment, and each day I have a different theme to the music I listen to while I'm working. Folk Monday. Metal Tuesday. Grunge Wednesday. Very evocative it was yesterday... played three or four Pearl Jam albums, Soundgarden's "Superunknown", AiC's "Dirt", Smashing Pumpkins' "Siamese Dream" during the day, and went through the whole Pixie's catalogue last night. My throat was very sore this morning.
I went through the whole Smiths and Stone Roses catalogue last night, with a bit of The Cure And The La's mixed in somewhere...
Dunno yet. Just got back from the funeral of my uncle, who introduced me to watching City back in 1975, and who died last week, so I might just have a bit of reflective silence this afty.
Ta. Thankfully, he'd been suffering with dementia for the last couple of years, so he'd been spared the name change nonsense. I think he was kind of aware of the fact that we'd been promoted last year though. I'm getting to that stage in life where the only time I see all my relatives is at funerals....
