Boyd is the man in form, I agree. Hope he doesn't go for Sagbo down the wing again put him in the middle, a League One team could be easy meat for him. Aluko deeper if possible, him and Hudds will be the match winners on a big pitch like Wembley
I think you've answered your own question there. Bruce has largely (but not always) played 3-5-2 against the top teams and a back 4 against the plebs.
Harper Rosenior Chester Davies Figueroa Elmo Huddlestone Livermore Boyd Sagbo Fryatt Though I suspect Aluko will start instead of Fryatt.
You really think Bruce would consider dropping Captain Fantastic for this one Macca? Or are my eyes deceiving me. Also I think despite his poor form he'd start Aluko ahead of Fryatt up top. That big Wembley pitch is made for Sone to go on his zig-zagging runs and open up the United defense.
Fook that right off. Harper Rosey Chezzy Davies Figgy Elmo Huddlestone Meyler Boyd Fryatt Sagbo Koren & Quinniesta off the bench. Get Elmo up the pitch running at them, he's a menace against anyone other than premier league defenders, he ravaged championship defences without trying. And Fryatt has to play, biggest goal threat we have when Jelavic and Long can't play. Sorry for Livermore but Meylers just been better recently and it's not a game to be playing 3 central midfielders across a 4 man midfield, need two wingers on to run at them and cause them problems. Want to peg them back from the word go and keep them pegged back.
If we go 4-4-2 I would go withe same starting eleven and subs.as Mr. Hat.We should go with the form players, IMO Meyler has been better than Livermore of late and has earned a starting place. My only doubt about Meyler is the way his over enthusiasm sometimes leads to yellow cards. I know that a fully fit and focused Aluko can be a game changer but at the moment he looks a shadow of his former self. I am sure he will work his way back into the stating eleven but to start him in one of the most important games in our history would be far too risky IMO. . Whatever side the gaffer puts out should be more than capable of beating the Blades, but I will bet we are in for a torrid opening quarter I would imagine they will throw everything but the kitchen sink at us. Here's to a great game on Sunday and a City victory.C'MON YOU 'ULL!!!!!!!
I don't think it will matter too much which formation we play. Our midfield is very experienced where as theirs is not. Its a big pitch at Wembley and I think our passing ability from midfield will be the key. Play Sagbo down the middle and his running will cause chaos. I cannot see them troubling our defence too much. But caution, its 90 mins and a one off game. I just think we will be too strong.
I see a frustrating game, with Sheffield sat back waiting to hit us on the break or drag it to penalties. City will give Sheffield the ball to drag them out of defence. Us fans will need to be patient. Having said that, an early goal from us means Sheff U have to come out to play. Then it could get interesting.
I think Sheff Utd will impose themselves physically on us (not like a sexual assault you understand), but strong challenges, high balls and lots of jostling. We need to stand up to it, and when we get the chance, get the ball down and play. Make them chase it. The thing that stands us in better stead, I think, than say Villa or Fulham who got knocked out by them, is that we still have a few players in our squad who have played a lot of their career (sometimes most of it) outside the Premier League, and they know what it takes. George Boyd for example, has come all the way through it, and it wasn't very long ago. Matty Fryatt has played most of his career in the Championship and was League 1 top scorer with Leicester a while back. Stephen Quinn has played a lot of Championship and some in League 1 with the Blades. There's probably more that I forget at the moment. That experience and know-how, added to our genuine Premiership class should, in my opinion, see us have enough to do the job. And I don't believe for one second that Brucie won't have us ready and just as desperate to win as them.
They rested 8 players and Steve Bruce actually went to the Barnsley v. Burnley game (he had others @ the Blunts game) in the end. As for Brentford, I bet they are happy now. Lol. As you said Fook Right Off with ^^^^^ this team. We want to win the game ffs. Livermore WILL START.
He will play 3-5-2 and he will pick Alex Bruce as he will suit this game for the first 60-70 mins Harper Chester Davies Bruce Elmo Livermore Thudd Meyler Boyd Sagbo Fryatt Rosie or fig for Bruce if we're leading and revert to a 4-4-2
