the award has somehow evaded lallana so far, so it's probably about time he won it

All the players (well maybe not Osvaldo) deserve praise for the work they put in, and improvements they made. Hard to argue against Lallana though. I wouldn't argue against a sympathy vote for Rodriguez, but Lallana was the MVP.

Won't let me vote at woke (terribly dated system) - I will vote for Jay though.

Sorry to butt in lads, but it has to be Lallana surely? Just giving an outsiders view <ok>

Let's face it if Suarez wasn't playing in the PL, Lallana would be up there with Toure and possibly Hazard for POTY.

He's had an incredible season and deserves something from it.

Looking at it objectively, I think Lallana is head and shoulders our player of the season, but your last line is exactly why I've voted for Jay Rodriguez. Lallana is getting from something his incredible season, a trip to the World Cup, Jay also had a fantastic season but will be sat at home watching not only his teammates going to the World Cup but then start the season without him. And since it really doesn't matter (I don't think Adam would be losing sleep over missing out), that's why I'd give it to Rodriguez, so that he does have something to take away from what was an excellent season that has ended so badly for him.

Fair point, and Jay must be so upset over whats happened, as for me he was on the plane to Brazil - and deservedly so.

I understand what you're saying but sentiment can get in the way. It's similar (in a way) to me saying that if Liverpool win the league (which I don't think we will btw!) - I want Gerrard to win our player of the season, when it's clearly Suarez who's been our best player.

I can see everyone's point about Jay, and understand it. But coming from an outside view (and I've seen you play a lot this season, as I now live in Weymouth and have a few friends with season tickets) Lallana has been absolute class. Not just a good season, but an unbelievable season.

As good as Rodriguez has been, it will be a travesty if Adam doesn't win it. I don't agree with the sympathy votes for Rodriguez.

Yeah, Suarez is your player of the season, in fact he's been the Premiership player of the season. Bet quite a few scousers would still vote for Gerrard though.

It should be Lallana but Rodriguez would have been a close second anyway and the injustice of his injury will certainly swing a few votes his way. Maybe even mine, I'm not quite decided yet.

I tell you what this has probably been the hardest season to vote. There is a case for all of the following who deserve it:

    Lallana
    Rodriguez
    Cork
    Lovern
    Shaw
    Davis

I was torn between Lallana, Rodriguez and Cork.

If you think Lallana has been the better player you should vote for Lallana. I don't like the idea of the sympathy vote, although I can understand the desire to let Rodriguez know that we care about him.

FFS, it's not like he died or anything. Footballers get injured, it happens.

    It sucks, but it happens

I think Lallana has been our best player. Therefore, I have voted for Lallana.

The media guys at Saints have set up a system for fans to send messages of support and other well-wishing stuff to Jay if they'd like to.

I think Artur Boruc might get the mentalist vote.

I agree. Went for Lallana as he is the one I think we would miss the most. JRod close second as he has made a massive impact this season and will be missed. Dejan has faded a bit...though probably because of injury.

I don't think there's a legitimate case for anyone other than Lallana. Rodriguez maybe on sentiment, but being real both him and Lovren are the only two other real contenders and they're both some way behind. Davis and Cork haven't been remotely close to Lallana.

The club always say it's a tough choice etc etc, but Lallana is even more of a shoe in than Schneiderlin was last season.

He will likely get the player's player vote too.

The club has had a great season and lots of players have had good seasons and great spells of form, but this vote shouldn't even be close
