Jay's dad has posted the following on Twitter:

"Southampton staff and supporters thankyou so much for your support. You are all top people."

"Thanks for your support I know he is at the right club to be looked after."

For all that went wrong with the Osvaldo transfer, it went so so right with Lovren. Great performances and comes across as a great guy who looks out for his team mates just like the league one lads have

I assume you are referring to a couple of skate trolls that have been posting disingenuous posts? Most posters seem genuinely upset and sympathetic.

If anything does justify the sort of wages that football players get these days, it's horrible injuries like this. Hope he makes a full recovery, not for Saints or England, but for himself. When we signed him, I looked at him and thought he was another arrogant pretty boy striker (sad reflection of the game these days), but he comes across as such a down-to-Earth, chilled out lad, doing it all for the love of the game. I'm trying to search for positives but its not easy. I guess at least 3 of the 6 months will be out of season, and perhaps it will give a chance to the youngsters/new signing. That's about it. Get well soon Jay!!

Im actually devastated. Would love to be optimistic but there is a chance he Will never be quite the same player. Worst injury an athlete can sustain.

Truly awful for the guy, he's going to feel down as **** for a while and will need the support from all around him. The last thing he now needs to hear is that he was off to Brazil. What he needs to hear is that he was never going to go anyway and rebuild from there (truth or not). From the interviews that I've seen of him he comes across as very grounded and almost oblivious as to how he's been observed or to how the team or him are rated

I could even live with longer, so long as he's fully healed. He has a long career ahead of him; if six becomes eight because we work him back cautiously through the reserve league, those few months are pretty minor in the grand scheme. Just want him back at 100% when all is said and done.

thats always my main fear with an injury like this, its not the time out that is the worst part, its the fear that you just wont recover. To many players arent the same after some injuries. But Jay is young sure he will come through :)

And you can tell he knew it, then and there on the pitch. Rickie spoke to Adam Blackmore afterwards and said that his head's gone in there, and that's footballer speak for despairing and possibly even panicking.
It isn't a career ending injury anymore, but there are incidences where people were never quite the same player afterwards. I think Michael Owen suffered the same injury, and he wasn't the same afterwards.

But Jay has got youth and time on his side, and I reckon Saints have call on some of the best medics and physiotherapists in football these days. He'll be really looked after right and come back a stronger and better player eventually.

To lighten the mood slightly, perhaps we can get Dani [or is it Pablo these days..?] back to do a job for once..? Perhaps he could actually earn his place, next season and give Jay someone to beat into touch in terms of skill, commitment and attitude.

Precisely why you will never have the emotional connection to your club that we do. You may think you do, but you're spoilt by success and a splendidly inflated sense of entitlement. When you support a 'smaller' club, one that nurtures and grows lesser players and maximises their potential, rather than discarding them for a more expensive import the moment they're perceived not to make the immediate grade, then you feel the highs and lows that much more personally.

I think you may start to see that in the next few seasons, going by your current trajectory, but for the moment I'd advise you worry about your own.

    Thanks for visiting though.

Did I stumble upon the Not606 competition for 'Biggest Irrelevant Tosser On Southampton's Board 2014'? Congrats on your win, if so.
