Anything we were going to get from this game would have been a bonus so the only thing that I'm annoyed or upset about is JRods injury really. I think this game shows a lot about what we need to improve on next season if it wasn't already obvious.
Proud of Saints today though despite the result. Thought we played really well, and have been screwed by the officials again. Gazzaniga was bloody awful, but that was expected. Hope Jay will be ok.
Last time I felt like this was the England Germany game in 2010. The man city goal was an undeniable game changer.
Are you serious? should have got a hand to the 3rd, then came flapping out in no mans land for the 4th.
I agree. And it was still absolute ****. Seriously, he has no clue where to stand, when to come out or stay back, or really anything happening in the game.
Big black cloud over that game. Expected City to win, but result does flatter them a little, and on another day different linesman and Boruc in goal it may of been a little different etc etc. Get well soon Jay. I wouldn't recommend listening to the Smiths right now!
Well look, he's clearly not good enough, but I don't see the point in tearing him apart. Frankly, he wasn't even our worst player today.
On the bright side, I though Cork was really excellent today. Gallagher finally got more than a couple minutes and didn't look much out of place. My hunch is that Jay Rod just dislocated his knee which hurts really bad and also you can no longer bend your leg and then it hurts just as bad going in.... but it's usually not a bad injury. Unless he pulled something as it came out, then once you pop it back in place everything's fine. There's a ton of swelling, but it goes away pretty fast.
If Artur was injured it was right to save him for the rest of the season. We were likely to lose anyway, so putting Gazza in was a risk worth taking. The only way he will be good enough is if he actually plays and learns.
Pochettino answered the question on the offside in English. Laughed and shook his head, puffed out his cheeks and did a heavy breath before saying "This action, it totally killed the game."
Pochettino absolutely furious in post match interview. Spoke in English for a bit. "the linesman killed the game. Simple."
Gazzaniga showed why he gives us all nightmares, but he also made a couple of important saves, and he showed a bit of character not to fold up after a couple of blunders. He still needs to improve massively, but today he did at least do enough to suggest that maybe he can do so.
As I said earlier I feel for Gazza, he is our 3rd choice and has had next to no match time, not even playing in the Development games, being thrown into the game against one of the best attacks in the World is daunting. He is obviously not ready to be our number 2 yet and this is the first thing we need to address in the Window. I agree with Poch that the 2nd goal was the game changer and along with JRods injury we never had a chance after that. Still played some good stuff but no end product means you won't score goals.
BT commentators making it sound like we were awful, saying the cb were bad, goalkeepers were bad, balls into the box were bad and seem evident that the second goal didnt change the game? Clueless sometimes
My twopence. That was really stupid by fonte, yes dzeko collapsed like a poorly made souffle but putting his foot up like that was ridiculous. Their 2nd was one of the worst onside calls in a long time but you have to look at Gazzaniga (or GAZINGA! as our delightful commentary insisted on calling him all game) for the 3rd and 4th. He made a couple of decent saves too but was pretty awful overall. I never really expected much in the way of points but our flaccid second half was pretty dire. Anyway i hope Jay is ok and that this game highlights the shortcomings of our squad to some in the upper tier.
