On this day, as its gone, I'd take 4-1. Thoroughly depressing losing Jay, awful linesman not doing his job, but we've never finished a season in the prem with a positive goal difference, so 4-1 & go home, I'd take that now & let the Liverpool fans moan instead. Get well soon J-rod.
I don't really blame the guy, it's not his fault he couldn't make it, but it answers my question about how high a GK is on our wish list (2nd). Hope we can find a club for him next season. Anyway that's my last word on Gazza.
He's an odd player. He's a great shot stopper but his positioning is pretty dire. My son's GK coach points out that if you're positioned correctly, you never look like you're making good saves; positioning is everything. Gazza just seems to have entire games where he doesn't come off his line then he overreacts the next time by coming out for everything regardless of whether it makes sense. That said, we were 2-1 down before he made a single mistake so it's not just down to him. Vin
Oh not suggesting it's all down to him by any stretch. I think the linesman had a far greater effect on this game than Gazza. But, saying that, he has been (and is) pretty bad. Sorry. I wish it were different. As Qwerty says, we really do need a new keeper.
Back to the training ground we need to regroup ready for next weeks game, hopefully JRod isn't as bad as is feared.
Should have been 3-1 at worst, not a dreadful result. Need tv replays seen by 4th official to be allowed.
I love the fact he strides on to the pitch to remonstrate at the ref, pointing to the linesman saying "thank you, yes you. Thank you" Love him. Just like Norwich away last year.
I think Gazzaniga actually had one of his better games. Distribution was excellent and nothing much he could have done about any of the goals. We looked defensively poor today (Fonte was pretty awful) and I think that (and a dreadful miss by the linesman) contributed much more to our downfall than Gazzaniga.
