Looking towards our future assuming we are in the premiership next season (i am positive we will be) I think we should at least start to look for players who we can coach as replacements for some of our big players who through no fault other than age are starting to slow down a touch. for example... Rangel and ash and leon just to name three that maybe have another good season in them to the high standard needed for premiership football, There are bound to be others who need to be replaced in a season or two and we need to start to prepare for that now, We have the facilities now and the money to look forward a season or two to have the right players trained in the swansea way mold to instantly step into their shoes when the time comes...
Yea, I was thinking the same thing only this morning. Rangel, Ash, Leon will soon be in a decline...I wonder if Rangel has started it this season? I still think he's great, but maybe not as prolific as he once was? Routledge will be there, and Hernandez. Bartley and Amat can maybe grow into the role.
Will Jazz or Alfei develop enough to take over from Rangel? I don't think so to be honest, so we might have to make a right back a priority for next season. Agree that Amat and Bartley will grow into Ash's boots. Finding a new leon will be nearly impossible - we will miss him when he's gone.
Agree with you there steve, Leon will be very hard to replace but i think we we have another season out of him. teams like ours cant afford to splash out mega millions on players like the big boys can and we should scout around for young players who we think have the potential and let then shadow the players like leon, michu, bony rangel and others for a year or so. our type of football is second to none and needs to be learned rather than paying out millions on someone who might not fit in. Its the same for monk and we are lucky he had two mentors that he can try to relate too. He will be far better again next season as you cant fault him on his effort after being thrown in the deep end. credit when credits due he has installed passion back into the club.
