    Is there racing elsewhere today?

Best tip: Don't listen to the man in the pork pie hat :D Unless he's offering to buy you a pint of course!

Hope you have a good day SCGDS - personally I'll be having a party in my pants <laugh>

What odds if Nicky wins the National the first quote he comes out with is 'Well, that blows fat paul out of the water doesn't it'....<rofl>

Trifolium in the novice chase for me. Balder Succes is a good animal but to my eye he's a Grade 2 animal.

I'm not right in the head Beefy - did Trifolium at Chelts, yet persuaded myself somehow that today would be Balder's day <doh>

Talking of fat Paul .............. Hamburger Hendo is catching up fast! Maybe they should organise a foot race between the pair of 'em <laugh>

I'd have thought Balder would have had been better suited by the 2.5 mile race but obviously the stable won that race with Uxizandre! Could be proved wrong Reebs just think Balder will be tapped for toe here and think the hill found out Trifolium the last day. Pretty sweet on Trifolium, he's a super jumper and the Arkle was a decent race even though Pipes didn't frank the form the other day. Mind you expecting Pipes to run two races in a row is, err, unlikely especially when, *cough cough*, they start drifting :bandit:

Morning, team. Hope everyone well. Lovely day for Mr Henderson yesterday and I think he’ll do rather well today again. In the ‘lucky last’ don’t miss the 11th richest man in Wales owned BRINGITHOMEMINTY (5.35). An effortless winner last time out the sky really could be the limit re this one. As for why he’s called Bringithomeminty. Bloodstock agent David ‘Minty’ Minton was discussing with the 11th richest man in Wales re the maximum they should bid for him when he came up for sale, ‘Should it be such and such, or maybe this amount’ said old boy Minton. The 11th richest man in Wales was uninterested by such talk and as he was so keen to acquire the son of Presenting hollered, ‘Whatever it takes just bring it home, Minty’. That's a true story incidentally. I swear I haven't just made it up.

I’ve documented on these pages my thoughts on the old GN since last October. I won’t bore people further with them but will say right now I’m off for a LONG RUN...

    Good luck all.

    Morning all,

    One good bet for me:

    1:30 Wild Blue Yonder

It stayed on to finish 5th in the Supreme doing its best work at the finish and that form is rock solid and received a boost yesterday. Bred to want further than Supreme trip. Half brother has won over 3 miles. If you do with PAddy Power they refund your stake if comes 2nd or 3rd and I'd be shocked if wasn't in first 3.

In the National: Rocky Creek but not a betting race for me. Just watch and enjoy.

    Good luck all.

Never been to Aintree DD, but if it's anything like the footy, there is usually somone trying to offload a ticket or two. Watch out for forgeries, and hope you hadn't already paid for those!

My 6 for the national - Prince De Beauchene, Burton Port, Chance Du Roy, The Rainbow Hunter, Hawkes Point and Battle Group. The more i look at it the more i am warming to the chances of Prince De Beauchene.

Elsewhere i really like the chances of Hinterland, was travelling well when brought down in the champion chase and he strikes me as the sort of horse that doesnt look flashy but is better than he looks and he hasn't had the chance to show it yet. Also on Melodic Rendezvous in the 3 miler, if he stays then he must go very close

I really like Our Mick today and Mccain stated this "He's been very disappointing this season but we found a few small problems with him which we have hopefully managed to iron out. This will tell us whether we have or not but he's on a good mark now and he's got his ground for the first time this season. This is a very competitive race but he's been there and done it at the festivals in the past and if he is back to his best, and his recent work seems to suggest he is, then he would have to have a chance."

My thoughts exactly Brough ... however, I don't think he will and it's the proven AFC for me. I love MR though and I wouldn't mind at all if he proved me wrong!

My National six (!!) are Burton Port, Big Shu, Balthazar King, The Package, Rocky Creek and T43 in that order. As others have already said, the GN is NOT a race to be doing your conkers on, and really the best we can hope for is a good race, with all participants sleeping in their beds tonight <ok>

I like Lac Fontana a lot and worthy of a decent bet, especially taking advantage of the PP offer of money back from a win bet if your horse places. In the 2-05 I have backed Balder Succes, for reasons that escape me now, and feel that my dersertion of Trifolium will come back to bite me on the arse!

Patent on Trifolium, Unioniste and Katgary. Single on Katgary too. It seems that horses that have done well at Cheltenham are bringing their form to Aintree, and it is standing up to scrutiny. Katgary was all but the winner at Cheltenham, met a fair amount of interference, which, but for, it would've won comfortably. Fancy it to go very close again.

The National, while a lottery, is a bit of an educated lottery, in that you can pretty much rule out half the field, as they simply won't stay. I've got five picks:

Rocky Creek - great jumper, should, just about stay.

Pineau Du Re - a good staying horse, I was impressed by the way it finished it's hurdles race at Cheltenham.

Prince du Beauchene - Purely for the Mullins factor, and could be the forgotten horse, as it's been targeted for this race for a while.

Lion ne Bearnai - will stay, has done well in big field races in the past, a decent e/w shot.

And, Hawkes Point, don't know why, always like to have an outsider too, and think this has a decent profile, a stayer, for a little e/w bet.
